Charles Spencer Drops William & Harry Bombshell – Reveals Where He Really Stands

It’s finally release day for Earl Spencer’s book ‘Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,’ but in the leadup to this day – September 22 – we’ve been hearing a lot from the Earl as he attempts to promote his latest memoir.

You may not know this, but Earl Spencer is a historian, and this time, he’s decided to put his gifts to work for him in what he calls his final say on his sister Princess Diana, and the massive legacy she left behind.

In one of his interviews, he addressed the ongoing rift between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry, and noted that, contrary to public assumptions, he’s actually never picked a side. Here’s what he has to say about it.

Earl Spencer Denies Picking A Side In Prince William/Harry Rift

It’s been roughly five years since William and Harry’s relationship became tensed to the point they’re no longer in direct communication with each other.

Even with Harry’s UK return, it’s been reported that William’s decision to keep Harry and his family at arms length remains the same.

Weighing in on this, their uncle Earl Spencer claimed that both sides played an active part in the rift, adding that he supports both equally, regardless. “I think there is a perception in the media that I am on Harry‘s side. Well, I’m on my deceased sister’s sons’ side, both of them,” Charles said in a new BBC interview aired on Sunday, September 20.

“And if either of them wanted anything, then I’d be equally there for them. And I never get involved in one camp or the other, except as a benign figure, I hope,” he continued.

Charles Spencer Admits Both Sides Have Valid Reasons For the Rift

Still speaking on the ongoing rift between the Waleses and the Sussexes, Spencer admitted that both sides have their share of valid reasons regarding how they’ve been treated by the other party.

“I hope one day it’s resolved,” he said.

“But I don’t know all,” Charles added. “I certainly don’t know what’s been done in the finer detail and so I would feel intrusive if I got more involved than to say of course a mother would want her two sons to be happy together and love each other.”

Apart from talking about his nephews’ relationship, or lack thereof, with each other, he also delved into other topics: will Princess Diana have made a great queen, and would Harry have found a happier course in life had his grief been properly handled?
