The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that the whole point of having Eric Forrester (John McCook) onboard was the secret nature of his employment.
Katie Logan Spencer (Heather Tom) never expected to have a lead designer of this stature, but she does, and planned to use that mega advantage against Forrester Creations.
However, Logan finds itself in a bad position now that Eric’s new venture has been revealed. He still intends to help Katie build her new fashion house, but is suffering from what might be a simple case of exhaustion.
It’s also possible that Eric has serious heart issues or is exhibiting symptoms that go beyond simply being out of breath. His advanced age means that pacing is necessary, which is exactly what Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) has been saying.
The Early Retirement Plan Revisited
Ridge was keeping his father’s health scares from recent years in mind when he planned what became an ill-fated retirement party. Eric was deeply hurt and lashed out at his son.
Within a matter of days, all was patched up, at least on the surface. However, Eric harbored a grudge against Ridge and planned to teach him a lesson.
Katie’s convenient need for a lead designer and her inability to obtain anyone of note allowed an opportunity to exist. Eric seized on it and offered his services to her. He went beyond that and said he would be more than a mentor, and that’s how his place as her lead designer was born.
Katie Logan Spencer Might Not Be Home Free
Stressing about the mountain of challenges that are ahead was something Katie, not Eric, was dealing with. But she was thrilled and relieved when the co-founder and fashion industry legend made his offer.
She accepted it with open arms and particularly liked that Eric wanted to teach Ridge a lesson while she was doing the same to her condescending older sister, Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang).
Having Eric’s guidance in the initial roll-out of Logan would have been plenty. But seeing his designs, which Ridge is unaware of, became a game-changer.
The ability for a fledgling fashion house to open with fresh designs like Eric’s, while the hand that created them remained hidden, was electric. Katie believed, rightly, that Logan was going to be the buzz across the world when its first collection debuted.
Eric Forrester Able To Deliver On His Promise?
Here’s hoping that McCook plans to remain with the cast indefinitely. But it’s always possible that he’s working on what will be his farewell storyline. It must be noted that there are no reports to that effect, so that’s purely hypothetical.
Assuming that this original character, who’s been part of B&B since its first episode in 1987, with McCook always portraying Eric, will be part of the show moving forward. That assumption doesn’t mean that Katie’s intended lead designer will be able to fulfill the promises he made to her.
A person’s physical and mental well-being is everything. So, based on Eric’s more recent history, it’s possible that he won’t be able to meet the rigors that Logan will require and Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) needs.
As for Katie, her fingers are crossed because she’s already lost the element of planned surprise. She’s hoping that Eric will be able to deliver, Logan can challenge FC as hoped, and Brooke will be proven wrong.
