Anna Duggar’s ‘Nightmare’ Life Revealed Following Josh Duggar’s Conviction

Inside Anna Duggar's 'Nightmare' Amid Husband Josh's Sex Offender ConvictionAnna Duggar’s life in Arkansas once looked perfect on the outside. Married to Josh Duggar, a star of 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On, she seemed to have it all: a large family, children, and a well-known household. But everything changed in 2021 when Josh was convicted of child pornography.

Despite the shocking conviction and strong objections from her family, Anna has remained by her husband’s side.

Struggling but Staying Strong

“Anna has several family members who have strongly encouraged her to leave Josh,” a source told Us Weekly. “It has been very difficult to have those conversations because Anna has always been so supportive of Josh, but the family felt that they had to let her know their thoughts.”

The insider added that her relatives “do not want to lose their relationship with her, so they try to let her know what they think while also remaining supportive family members.”

“It is a nightmare for Anna that she will be dealing with for many, many years to come,” the source said. “The only positive thing right now is that he is out of the picture [while in jail].”

Building Independence Amid Family Strain

Anna, 37, shares seven children with Josh—Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus, Meredith, Mason, Maryella, and Madyson. While her husband serves a sentence of more than 12 years in prison, she has worked to focus on the positives in her life.

“Anna has worked very, very hard to get to where she is right now,” the insider explained. “She is not living with the Duggars and has begun to set up her own life.”

As she distances herself from the Duggar compound, Anna is reportedly “becoming independent and gaining strength,” the source said. “She has worked very hard to be strong and to stay out of the news and rebuild her life to a degree.”

Unlike many of her in-laws, Anna does not maintain a personal social media account, keeping her life mostly private. She does, however, share glimpses through her dog breeding business Instagram account, Golden Grove Pups. In February, she posted a video introducing three puppies, writing, “Meet Whitaker, Beaumont, and Harrington — three of our handsome little golden guys 🐶💛,” giving fans a rare peek into her daily life.

Family, Faith, and Loyalty

While Anna has largely stayed silent about Josh’s legal issues, her devotion to family remains clear. “[Anna and Josh’s kids] are her No. 1 priority and that will never change,” a source told Us Weekly in June 2022. “She’s with them all the time. She’s going to stand by her husband and she’s going to continue raising their kids to the best of her ability.”

Her care extends even to other family members facing legal trouble. In March, she emailed her brother-in-law Joseph Duggar, who was arrested for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020, writing: “You’ve got our prayers. We love you — however we can help, please let us know.”

She also cautioned him: “Just remember, don’t talk about anything legal unless you are with an attorney. Everything said in these messages, phone calls and video chats are recorded and turned over to prosecutors.” Joseph pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim under 12 and was released on a $600,000 bond.

Through it all, Anna Duggar’s life has been anything but easy, but she is working to carve out a private, independent life for herself and her children while navigating one of the most public family scandals in reality TV history.
