Over 25 years have passed, but Andrea Yates hasn’t been forgotten. In fact, her ex-husband Rusty Yates is close with her and still visits her behind bars.
In June 2001, Americans were glued to their TV screens and horrified by the national news segments following the Yates Family. Andrea was reportedly in psychosis from post-partum depression and suffering from side effects from going off her mental health meds.

The troubled mother of five confessed to drowning the five children she shared with husband Rusty Yates; Noah, 7, John, 5, Paul, 3, Luke, 2, and 6-month-old Mary. She’s now doing life in prison in Texas for the deaths of the five children.
Rusty Yates was devastated after his kids’ deaths, for obvious reasons. But, he sat down with People Magazine recently and confessed that he has been visiting his ex-wife in prison. Apparently, Rusty is a better human being than any of us will ever be and decided to forgive his ex.

Andrea’s ex explained to People Magazine, “I try once a year to visit in person and we text back and forth some and talk on the phone some. Andrea and I always got along. That’s a time of our life that we both cherish and she’s the only person I can talk to about it. She and I are the only two who can get together and reminisce about what it was like to enjoy those years together”
