Angelynn Mock Not Competent To Stand Trial For Mom’s Murder

In November, true crime watchers were deeply shocked to find out that in Wichita, Kansas, Angelynn Mock was arrested and charged with stabbing her mom. The suspect used to be a news anchor on Fox, and now there’s been an update on her case.

Not Competent With Mental health Issues

The update on the case arrived on News 12 on YouTube on the weekend. Well, it turns out that the court decided Mock isn’t mentally healthy to stand trial. The news anchor related the information that a “judge ruled that [Mock] is not competent to stand trial.”

Apparently it was a very “brief hearing,” as a competency test had been ordered. Angel Mock was facing murder charges after first responders found her mom unresponsive on her bed. She’d suffered multiple stab wounds.

When the case was first reported, it seemed like a straightforward case. But obviously, mental health couldn’t be overlooked. It’s not an uncommon crime actually, but there could be deep seated health issues that cause folks to kill their own moms.

Stabbing & Cutting – Self Harm

The outcome in court last week was that Mock would be sent to a hospital for further evaluation about her state of mind. The circumstances of the arrest all pointed to something not quite right, as witnesses claimed that they saw Angelynn Mock covered in blood from a cutting incident.

Apparently, Mock believed that she had no option but to kill her mother, telling police her mom wanted to take her life.

The hearing late last week revealed that the former news anchor was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Additionally, she has a condition known as schizoaffective disorder. Meanwhile, Angelynn Mock’s relative explained that she’s also struggled with bipolar disorder. For now, the case isn’t going anywhere, and Mock remains behind bars in jail.

The Case of Helena Little

Meanwhile, another case of a mother being killed by a daughter involved Helena Little. She stabbed her mom in McNair, Virginia in mid-November. Since her arrest, Helena has been kept behind bars in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. However, it’s not clear whether she underwent any psych evaluations.

So far, there are no updates on when her trial might begin. Police did discover evidence that Little tried to clean up the place after the killing. Unlike Mock, she didn’t wait around for the police to come and take her away. She fled the scene but was later arrested in Reston, Virginia, and charged with second degree murder.

Other Competency Cases

Yet another ongoing case that involves competency involves Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch star Chad Ollinger, who killed a cellmate after he claimed he could read minds. Plus, more recently, the alleged vandal at JD Vance’s home, William DeVoor, is believed to have mental health issues as well.

We will be sure to update on all of those cases as more news emerges, so remember to check back with us often for all your true crime news.
