‘Y&R’ Spoilers: Cane’s Overreaction Spells Doom – Lily’s Realization Came Too Late

Y&R' Spoilers: Cane's Overreaction Spells Doom – Lily's Realization Came Too LateThe Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) reached a faulty conclusion. He decided that the conversation he had with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was decisive, and it wasn’t.

Swayed by Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) skilled deception, Cane followed Lily’s perceived rejection by connecting with the woman who is directly responsible for the destruction of his company.

As viewers and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) know, Phyllis stole Cane’s artificial intelligence weapon and delivered it to the absolute worst possible person on planet Earth, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

The founder and reigning head of Newman Enterprises has already torpedoed Arabesque, leaving Cane on the path toward bankruptcy proceedings. Victor’s next target is his longtime nemesis, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), and his family business, Jabot.

Cane Ashby Lacks Experience And Discipline

One of the lessons learned by observing Cane is his lack of experience. He clearly didn’t know how to hire the right people, as Carter’s (Vincent Stalba) deadly retention demonstrated.

Choosing Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) as one of his confidants was misguided and proved to create chaos. That gambit was made as a partial counter to get Victor, which obviously failed.

Recruiting Phyllis meant that Cane had not one but two extremist wild cards. She clashed with Billy and produced nothing of value. Phyllis also committed corporate theft, which is a crime that Cane might be able to pursue if he can prove what she did.

Lily Winters Feels Sorry For Lost Love

Lily said that Cane had changed. Fair enough. But to her credit, when pressed by him, she also admitted to having changed herself.

Cane’s been living in an emotional wilderness without Lily. His plan to take over Genoa City, Wisconsin’s legacy businesses, was intended to earn her and their twins respect. That was an obvious fantasy land pursuit.

But what Lily has finally realized is that Cane lost her, their children, and now his father. He’s alone and truly sorry. So, her feelings are shifting. But the audience likely feels that Lily will learn about his romantic connection with Phyllis, to put it euphemistically, and then bolt.

Khalil is pregnant and will need time away from the cast. While the actor could record advanced scenes, it seems fair to assume that Lily will need to leave town to clear her head once the unlikely Cane-Phyllis link is public knowledge.

Victor Newman’s Next Step Isn’t About Business

Victor wanted Adam to smear Cane last summer during the time everyone was visiting the maze in the south of France. But Adam resisted because Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) wasn’t supportive.

Time and circumstances caused Chelsea’s perspective to shift. She agrees that Billy is fair game. So, Adam is moving ahead with the second step of Victor’s plan to crush the Abbotts and Jabot.

No legitimate head of any conglomerate would need to play the petty revenge game Victor is engaged in. But this is soap, and the Moustache is determined to take Jack and Billy down.
