‘Y&R’ Spoilers: Cane’s Goal Can Be Stopped – Lily Holds the Key, Not Victor

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) believes he holds all the cards. First, he plans to let Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) create the setup. Then, Cane wants to

use that result to draw Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) in for a takedown.

Victor is onto Cane’s games, or at least believes the intel his many minions gathered is useful. But the head of Newman Enterprises and current King of Genoa City, Wisconsin, also recognizes that this renewed version of Cane is a legitimate threat.

While Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) isn’t on Victor’s side, she should prove useful to his goals. As Cane said himself, he will abandon his world domination plans if she agrees to reconcile.

The New Cane Ashby Is Very Different

Longtime fans wondered when the character Daniel Goddard (Cane) initially portrayed would reappear. Their hopes for that well-liked actor’s return were lifted when buzz about Aristotle Dumas being Cane emerged earlier this year.

But TPTB at Y&R decided a new direction had to be taken. The Cane character was altered, and so a new actor was seen as necessary. Reasonable reviews, an admitted subjective term, offer kudos for Flynn’s early returns.

This daytime veteran, late of Days of our Lives, as Chad DiMera, possesses the right chops for who Cane has become. He blends the right sense of monied bravado and vulnerability that make him watchable and believable.

Victor Newman Wants Threat Neutralized Soon

If reports prove true, Cane’s artificial intelligence tool is powerful. Of course, the term AI is a misnomer of sorts.

The intelligence noted was created by real-life humans. With whatever sentience flows into the future, its origin will always be from those creators, not the non-human digital offspring.

The threat Victor recognizes is Cane’s ability to attack any company, destroy it, and leave no evidence of that massive crime.

While fiction might seem a fitting tag, those on the other side of the screen know from current experiences that computer-based tools are capable of possibilities recently thought impossible.

So, this storyline is current and digestible. Kudos to the writing staff for developing a topical storyline that feeds off the modern world.

Lily Winters Still Loves Him

The subject header is the greatest counter anyone in GC has to whatever Cane is planning and however he intends to exact his encompassing takeover.

Lily and Cane broke up more than six years ago, leaving both people wanting. They weren’t just married but remarried. Plus, their tie through the twins means they are forever a family.

The audience will see if Cane’s clear emotions will force him to choose between abandoning the plan his late father created and Lily.

However, it could be that Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) anticipated Cane would ride the wave through to reconciling with Lily and restoring his family, with Arabesque and the AI scheme merely being means to this desired end.
