The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease there are four significant ways in which the recasting of Cane Ashby, previously portrayed by Daniel Goddard, will positively impact Genoa City.
Cane’s comeback is set to take the storyline in an exhilarating new direction, so let’s discuss the advantages of reintroducing Cane with a fresh face.
It Was Previously Speculated Aristotle Dumas Was Really Cane Ashby
CDL had previously speculated that Aristotle Dumas might actually be Cane Ashby, with Billy Flynn poised to take on the role. Now, new behind-the-scenes evidence suggests that Cane is indeed making a return, as his name appears to have been spotted in the leaked wardrobe photo below.
Given this and the various Cane-related hints in the Dumas storyline, it seems almost certain that Flynn is stepping in as Cane Ashby.
While this change will certainly require some adjustment – particularly since Flynn is significantly younger than Goddard and lacks an Australian accent – let’s take a moment to highlight the positives.
There are indeed compelling reasons to believe that Cane’s return could be fantastic news for the show, so let’s explore the benefits.
Victor Is Shook Up By Dumas In A Way That Hasn’t Been Seen For A While
To begin with, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) seems to be sincerely unsettled by Dumas in a manner we haven’t witnessed for some time.
It requires a considerable amount for Victor to see anyone as real competition, which speaks volumes about this revamped version of Cane.
Cane is re-entering the arena as a HIGHLY influential business mogul who poses a significant threat to Victor. Although no one ever truly comes out on top against Victor ultimately, it’s refreshing to see that someone has “The Moustache” feeling a bit uneasy for a change!
Victor is genuinely intimidated by Dumas, who he’ s never even seen in person or met, and that is saying a lot!
Lily’s Hot Storyline, Billy Flynn’s Hot Debut
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is starting an intriguing storyline that will heat up even more when Cane returns to the scene.
It may take a while for Lily to move beyond all of Cane’s Dumas deceit and rekindle her feelings for him, but there’s a strong possibility that a reunion between Cane and Lily will eventually take place.
Additionally, Billy Flynn’s long-anticipated debut is already generating significant excitement.
This buzz is expected to intensify once Flynn is officially announced as Aristotle Dumas, also known as Cane Ashby, on screen, which should provide him with an exhilarating start on Y&R.
As far as the Australian accent, Billy should pull it off fine-he’s done many scenes on Days Of Our Lives with Dan Feurreriegel, who although he plays a Brit, is originally from Australia.
The Show Itself Gets A Significant Reboot
Ultimately, the entire series is undergoing a reboot thanks to Cane’s return, which will have a significant impact on numerous characters and introduce plenty of drama.
Regardless of whether fans support the new Cane or not, this choice to recast is bound to result in some exciting and novel story arcs.
Future spoilers for the CBS soap indicate that some thrilling developments are on the way due to Cane’s comeback, so keep an eye out for updates on all the surprises that await.
In addition, his new portrayer was very popular on Days of Our Lives, and may pull some viewers over.
