Why Prince Harry’s VJ Day Wreath Laying Was Termed A Shameless Stunt

Well, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s emotional VJ Day appearance has just turned into a stunt-field for one Prince Harry. I know what you’re thinking; what did he do now?

The question you should be asking is, what did he not do now? Ha! Just kidding. But he did do something dramatic, let’s just acknowledge that one bit.

Prince Harry Asks Pal To Leave Letter On VJ Day Wreath

Prince Harry is not above pulling a few strings to get himself in front of some headlines, even though, according to a well-known royal expert, he needn’t pull his latest stunt since he’s already being widely respected for his service.

Weighing in on the issue, royal commentator and journalist Robert Jobson said that Harry’s wreath-laying would not have sat well with the late Prince Philip had he being alive today.

“It was obviously a PR stunt. Bottom line is, if you didn’t want it to be a PR stunt, just leave it there. Somebody would see it. It would get passed to the press eventually. It was a little bit too slick. It was part of Operation Rebuild Harry. The King was there. It was incredibly emotional. You could see the tears in Camilla’s eyes.”

Jobson noted that Harry’s plan might have been to upstage the Prince and Princess of Wales, who were a no-show at the event even though their presence had been expected.

“It was the King’s day. The Prince and Princess of Wales absolutely should have been there,” he reasoned, adding, “A cynic might argue that Prince Harry maybe saw that as an opportunity to leave a letter there. Yes. A lot of people respected Harry for the Invictus Games, for his own service.”

Jobson further opined that the late Prince Philip would have certainly disapproved of Harry’s self-serving stunt, having served himself.

“You don’t need to do stunts. I can almost hear the derision coming out of the Duke of Edinburgh’s mouth,” the Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show editor said. “The Duke was a serviceman. It wasn’t about himself. Harry was advised by his father to think very carefully about what he does. You make your bed, you lie in it.”
