What’s Up With ‘GH’ Drew Quartermaine – 3 Reasons For His Hero-To-Zero Personality Change

What’s Up With General Hospital’s Drew Quartermaine – 3 Reasons For His Hero-To-Zero Personality ChangeGeneral Hospital (GH) spoilers hint Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) is a shadow of his former self. He used to be one of the top heroes in Port Charles, ready to run to someone’s rescue – anyone’s rescue – at the drop of a hat.

Now? He’s breaking up marriages, blackmailing friends, working with mob queen bees, and lying to the police to land his brother in jail. What happened to Drew Q, and what’s up with his drastic personality change? Here are three theories …

Reason #1 – Prison Really Does Change A Man

Drew’s personality transition started after he was released from Pentonville in 2024. As the old saying goes, prison does change a man, and after his brutal beat-up, which almost cost him his life, he became cynical and bitter.

This was the beginning of his spiral into baddie-ness, and as time wore on, Drew’s done worse and worse things.

Reason #2 – Brain Injury

Speaking of Drew’s prison stint and getting beat up, could he have sustained a brain injury affecting his personality? This has been played out in soap operas before and has been presented as a brain tumor in the past.

Could Drew have knocked his head during the prison beating? Maybe doctors didn’t notice the condition at the time? Then again, could he have a brain tumor?

Reason #3 – Hurt People, Hurt People

After Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) returned, Drew began to resent those around him. Imagine your inner circle pretty much dropping you as soon as your twin brother comes back.

Jason may be a criminal, but he’s everyone’s “favorite”, which explains why Drew dumped Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) immediately after his brother returned.

Even worse, Carly didn’t seem overly sad about her breakup with Drew since her bestie and soul mate was back.

Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) also gravitated toward his other uncle right away, which may be the reason Drew decided to seduce his nephew’s wife. After all, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) was one of the few people not overly ‘wowed’ by Jason’s returning presence.

Hurt people, hurt people, and Drew could be lashing out because he’s so hurt by how many people turned away from him after Jason arrived in Port Charles. Even Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) is more #TeamJason than #TeamDrew when she should be loving both her kids, equally, right?
