It seems like we are finally moving past the TV reboot era, did Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos miss the boat? A few years ago the married hosts announced they were working on an All My Children soap opera reboot, and we haven’t heard much sense.
Is the All My Children reboot still happening? Keep reading to find out, here’s everything we know. Warning, possible TV spoilers below!
Kelly Ripa Appears On Soapy Podcast
Soap stars and real life besties Rebecca Budig (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Greg Rikaart (DOOL, Young and the Restless) just launched season 2 of their popular podcast “Soapy.” Kelly Ripa joined the actors in a recent episode, and finally shared an update on the AMC reboot.
Ripa explained, “We’ve been working on it for so long. But it’s really out of our hands… It’s like one of those things where you get something off the ground, and then oh there’s corporate restructuring, there’s new management, and then the project falls down, and then there’s like renewed interest, and then, oh, the person championing this was let go, and you’re like ‘Oh no.’ So, it’s like one of these things that has never gone away.”
It sounds like the All My Children reboot has hit the “never say never” stage. Nobody has shut the project down, but it’s not moving forward either. There’s still a chance ABC could decide to put it on a streaming site in the future, but Kelly Ripa’s comments aren’t very reassuring.
All My Children Reboot Updates
Five years have passed since Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa announced the soap reboot was being eyed by ABC for primetime.
The TV hosts actually were love interests on All My Children decades ago, so it’s a shame we won’t get to see them back in action.
