Walton Goggins Cried Over Getting The White Lotus Role

Now on season 3, The White Lotus continues to thrill its fans, not only with the storylines, but also the amazing filming locations.

In the latest season, the show was filmed in Thailand at the Thai version of The White Lotus hotel. Meanwhile, Walton Goggins, who starred in season 3 as Rick Hatchett, was so moved by getting a role in the series that he cried.

Walton Goggins is now on a new level of stardom since he starred in season 3 of The White Lotus. He played the troubled older man to Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea, and was in Thailand, on a mission to avenge his father’s death. Spoiler alert: Just as he thinks he is doing so, he gets a major shock.

Meanwhile, he has now opened up about his role in the show, saying that he cried when he first found out he had the role. The actor told the Daily Mail that he is an “inveterate crier,” but shed more tears by his own standards when he phoned his wife, Nadia Connors, to say he had been cast by creator, Mike White.

He described the opportunity, saying:

It’s a golden ticket, but more than that, it was just the opportunity to go on a journey that comes from that man’s [White’s] imagination. Things that are interesting to him are interesting to me.

Goggins and the rest of the show’s cast spent months holed up in The Four Season resort in Ko Samui, Thailand, while filming the dark satire and he told the Daily Mail about the final episode:

I’m so relieved it’s out in the world. It’s been uplifting getting to finally talk to people about it. For the first time in a long time I can exhale. A big exhale. Rick Hatchett was a lot to carry.

Meanwhile, Goggins has been nominated for an Emmy and is best known for his role in the US crime series, Justified, and Prime Video’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi Fallout – he played the character with a black hole for a nose. However, while he was popular in those series, The White Lotus takes him to a new level.

Moreover, his The White Lotus success also came as his other HBO series, The Righteous Gemstones, benefited from his newfound fame by airing immediately afterwards, reportedly drawing one million viewers for every episode.
