‘Sister Wives’ Shockers: Inside How ‘Special Forces’ Pushed Kody to Reconnect With His Kids

Sister Wives star Kody Brown recently participated in Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Kody didn’t win the competition, but may be on a better track now that the show has ended.

Kody appeared on The Viall Files podcast hosted by Nick Viall, where Kody opened up about his relationship with his kids.

Kody Brown Discusses Relationships Before Divorces

“Before I got divorced, before three divorces, one after another, I had a what I thought was a great relationship with all of my children,” Kody said, concerning the original 13 children. “So, I feel like they were kind of victims of the divorce experience. And of course, they were closer to their mothers.”

“I was distant from some of my children, but not from all of them. I have a very close relationship with three of my daughters and a working relationship with four others,” Brown continued. “And then a relationship I’m working on with others. And so, I was already in that space where I was going through a process of apologizing to my ex-wives for my part in the breakup.”

Kody Brown Is Confronted By Directing Staff

The Directing Staff did not go easy on Kody as they interrogated him about his obvious failures as a father.

Kody admitted that he should have a stronger relationship with his children and admitted that he was the discrepancy in the relationships.

“It was a hard experience with the DS because from a military perspective, I felt like if you’re partly responsible, then you’re wholly responsible,” Kody said. “So, I felt like I owned way more than should have belonged there. But in reality, whether fair or unfair, I’ve always been working on the relationship with my children one way or another.”

Kody Brown Is Much More Engaging

Kody says that the show didn’t exactly bring him closer to his kids. However, he feels he has been much more engaging since being so humiliated that he was humbled when he returned home.

Fans know that Brown has 13 children with his original three wives and five children with his current wife, Robyn Brown. Kody has no problem with the relationship with those five kids.

Brown has been estranged from his kids with Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown since Covid began.

The issues that stemmed from Kody’s Covid rules were a big part of Kody’s problems with his children because of Kody’s demands to keep Robyn’s children safe. Since Covid began, Kody has lost his son Garrison Brown, one of Janelle’s children, to suicide.

Perhaps “Special Forces” gave him time to dwell on his reaction to his children’s wants and needs at that time and that has made him more receptive to their needs.

The past cannot be changed, but the experience may have given Kody another way to think about the situation. Will Kody finally reunite with all of his remaining children?
