‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Opens Up About Intimacy and Marriage Rules for His Children

Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Talks Sex Before Marriage For His ChildrenFor years, Sister Wives patriarch Kody Brown has stood by his infamous belief that “love should be multiplied, not divided.”

Yet when it comes to his daughter’s love life, that philosophy seems to stop cold at the door. On the October 26 episode of Sister Wives, viewers witnessed a surprisingly intense moment as Kody met his daughter Aurora’s new boyfriend, Brodie — and wasted no time turning the friendly introduction into a moral sermon.

A Protective Father or a Preacher in Disguise?

Kody and his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown, have often emphasized family values and faith throughout the show. So when their eldest daughter, Aurora, brought home her boyfriend, Kody immediately switched into protective-dad mode.

He began advising Brodie that it was his responsibility to “protect” Aurora — both physically and emotionally.

But his message wasn’t exactly landing as intended. Despite Kody’s attempt at subtlety, his euphemisms about “protection” flew right over Brodie’s head. Trying to play along, the young rancher proudly mentioned that he had given Aurora a pocket knife for safety.

Kody’s Message Becomes Clear

What Kody was really talking about, however, had little to do with physical defense. He was hinting at something deeper — or rather, more chaste.

Using his own marriage as an example, Kody explained to Brodie, “When I’m protecting [Robyn] from myself, I’m trying to protect her from being hurt by me.”

It didn’t take long for Aurora to catch on. “After awhile, it’s clear that my dad’s talking about chastity,” she said in her confessional. “And I can tell Brodie’s very much thinking about tactics: ‘I know how to use knives. I’m trained in mixed martial arts. She’s good, sir.’”

Kody Brown’s Strict Views on Premarital Intimacy

While Brodie may have been confused, Kody felt he was making his point. “I don’t want my kids fooling around,” he admitted. “When you’re just dating, you’re kissing another man’s wife until she’s your wife. And if she doesn’t become your wife, you’re kissing another man’s wife.”

The irony, of course, wasn’t lost on fans. During his courtship with Robyn, Kody was still spiritually married to three other women — Meri, Janelle, and Christine — and could still be affectionate with them.

According to Kody, each of those wives shared their first kiss with him only at their respective weddings.

“I believe in chastity,” he continued. “Don’t take something … that doesn’t belong to you.”

Brodie Passes the Test — Barely

To his credit, Brodie handled the uncomfortable conversation with patience and grace. Despite being caught off guard by Kody’s roundabout lecture on morality, he remained respectful throughout. In the end, the patriarch appeared satisfied with what he saw.

“He wears cowboy boots,” Kody said approvingly. “He rides horses; he listens to country western music; he even plays guitar. Can I trust my daughter with a cowboy? Well, I think I can trust my daughter with this cowboy.”

As always, Kody’s words left viewers divided — some applauding his fatherly instincts, others rolling their eyes at his double standards. But one thing’s for sure: when it comes to his daughters, Kody Brown draws a firm line in the sand.
