When Prince William appeared on the Reluctant Traveler to talk about his plans to “change” a number of things in the Monarchy, there were speculations that this change could impact the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in unfavorable ways.
Now, the speculations seem more likely to become reality with new evidence suggesting that William’s Monarchy will in no way be a mirror of his father’s, or of countless other monarch’s before him.
Royal Expert Praises Prince William As “Anything But Weak”
It took several more email leaks to convince King Charles that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were huge liabilities to the monarchy to make a move to completely cut them off.
Even though the letters patent was so quick and easy and didn’t take anywhere near the number of months as was previously speculated, King Charles has declined to extend this move to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who many continue to see as tarnishing arms of the Royal Family.
This, of course, has left many royalists disgruntled, to say the least. But if there’s one thing anyone can take heart in, it’s the promised “sweeping reforms” that will take place during William’s reign.
According to the Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes, whilst there are a number of things William wishes to change the second he accedes the throne, stripping non-working royals of their titles is at the top of the list.
I’m talking about a future where Mr. Harry and Mrs. Meghan lose their last royal vestiges. I’m sure many are already prepping for the day when Just Harry officially becomes a thing.
A friend of William’s seemed to vouch for this, telling Sykes, “Charles is weak. William is anything but weak. William is King in all but name now.”
Another friend reportedly told Sykes, “The change of reign is happening in real time, whether they admit it or not.”
King Charles Doesn’t Agree With Prince William’s Plans For the Monarchy, Feels He Disrespects Tradition
For a King who values traditions and respects the contributions of those who came before, Charles is said to be wary of William’s “sweeping reform” plans.
“To William, continuing to run the monarchy as though it were still an Edwardian institution feels absurd. To Charles, his son’s more casual approach can feel like a lack of respect for duty and tradition,” a source told Sykes.
Whoops! Agree to disagree then, I’m sure.
