Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle may have been front and center for the Dodgers World Series game against the Toronto Blue Jays, but it doesn’t mean that he’s a true fan of the Los Angeles team. According to Harry during his Canadian trip, the whole thing was basically out of his hands.
Prince Harry Apologizes To Canada For Supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got a lot of tongues wagging when they attended the Dodgers’ world series game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Not only were they found to be supporting Dodgers – Harry’s father is the King of Canada, mind you – but he was also sporting official Dodgers’ team merch.
Now in Canada to meet veterans as part of his Invictus Games program, he’s decided to shed some light as to the reason he attended the game and supported Dodgers.
“Firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it. Secondly, I was under duress,” Harry said during his appearance on CTV News on Thursday.
He also offered further explanation by saying, “There wasn’t much choice. I was invited to the LA Dodgers’ box by the dugout by the owner himself, [Mark Walter] so I was doing what I thought was the polite thing to do. But I’m going to wear [this Blue Jays hat] from now on to make sure I don’t make any more of those mistakes.”
As for why he threw in the blue hat, Harry jokingly blamed his bald spot for putting him in a tight corner. “The other piece of this was … when you’re missing a lot of hair on top and you’re sitting under floodlights, you’ll take any hat that’s available,” he said. He then went on to pledge his allegiance to the Blue Jays.
LA Dodgers lost to Toronto Blue Jays during the epic Game 4 of the World Series in Los Angeles.
“So Game 5, Game 6, Game 7, I was Blue Jays throughout. Now that I’ve admitted that, it’s going to be really hard for me to return to Los Angeles,” Harry said, before declaring his pain over the team’s recent loss. It was especially heartbreaking considering that they managed a victory against the Dodgers in Game 4 and Game 5.
The Blue Jays then went on to lose Game 7 in front of a home crowd for a final score of 5-4.
