Prince Andrew: One Rule For Him & Another For Harry?

The removal of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York’s titles raised a debate not only about the House of Windsor’s consistency but also about its fairness. A Double Standard Situation 

Neil Sean, a royal commentator, in his vlog, Daily News Headlines on Friday, believes that the situation is a typical example of double standards. He insinuated that seniors in the monarchy behind the scenes feel irritated. And, it revolves around the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “did far more damage to the monarchy” than Andrew who’d “never written a book.”

Notable, Prince Andrew only gave “one interview which was detrimental to his own persona.” The primary question being posed, according by Sean, is why the King can “immediately remove the official titles of Prince Andrew” but isn’t able to “just do the same with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.”

The Beatrice & Eugenie Factor

Sean started his argument by looking at how the media covered Andrew’s daughters. He called the recent paparazzi photos of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie a “complete fabricated setup.”

In his opinion, it was nothing more than an effort by the palace to create a “heartwarming story to calm down people on a hard day when their dad lost the titles.”

According to him, this is just one of many cases of the royal press manipulation to show that the girls are “just like you and I, struggling.”

Two Crisis Situations

The next step of his argument was the direct comparison of the two royal crises. Sean admitted that it’s “a tough day” for Andrew which leads him to be “an average common man.” However, he still has a life with some freedom. Nevertheless, Sean argues that Harry and Meghan’s conduct has been severely damaging.

After all, they deliberately falsely accused the institution of racism and at the same time disrespecting the late Queen. They are, however, still reaping the benefits of their status. For example, as Sean pointed out, they “continue to take on the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

The Mental Health Card

Sean’s sources tell him that the reason for the discrepancy is that “Harry has played the mental health card incredibly well,” which is something that King Charles finds unsettling. Notably, it seem that it caused a problem for the monarch and the heir to the throne, Prince William.

The royal family expert reminded viewers that with Harry, the public was informed that taking away a title would be a complicated parliamentary act. However, the example of Prince Andrew is a case that shows the opposite. “If it’s possible to do it for one person, then it’s equally possible to do it for another?” he asked.

Two Cases, Different Outcomes

When Sean finished his analysis, he wondered what it would take for the King to “get up, do what many think is the right thing by the Sussexes, and remove their titles.”

In his opinion, it seems that the monarchy is inconsistent. King Charles seems unable to deal with two inner, very different, yet equally public rebellions.
