2025 has been a big one for Meghan Markle so far, which is as it should be, considering that she returned to Instagram for the first time in years at the beginning of the year.
This year alone has seen her launch her lifestyle company, As Ever, grow her platform on Instagram as an influencer, release two shows in partnership with Netflix, and premiere a new Lemonada podcast titled ‘Confessions of A Female Founder.’
Having steamrolled ahead for much of this, the last thing anyone would expect Meghan to be doing is looking back to her past. And yet that is what she appeared to have done when she spotted a tote bag that bore the initials DS.
Meghan Markle Reportedly Agreed To Be Addressed Simply As Ma’am
Meghan Markle’s custom branded tote gave birth to a lot of speculations regarding how attached the former Duchess is to her royal titles. In light if this, Scott Moore, the new CEO of the Invictus Games, appears to have come forward to tell us that all isn’t as it seems on the surface.
Moore met the Duchess when she traveled with her husband to Canada in February for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. Moore was tasked in overseeing the organisation’s inaugural winter games, and during that time, he usually came into contact with Harry and Meghan.
Prior to the meeting, Moore had been briefed on how to address Harry and Meghan. He told the Daily Mail: “I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here, and I was told the simple sir and ma’am is fine.”
However, according to royal etiquette, female members of the Royal Family were usually addressed as “Your Royal Highness” followed by “Ma’am.”
This is not the first time that stories of Meghan’s preferred form of address have surfaced, as Vanity Fair recently released an explosive cover story on it.
The report claimed: “Some people familiar with the production of Archetypes and Harry’s book tour said they were instructed to address the couple as sir or ma’am, though the request was dropped in one instance after the person pushed back. (Other people say they were encouraged by Harry and Meghan to call them by their first names.)”
Earlier this year, however, it was discovered that Meghan has continued to send gifts and emails using her HRH titles, despite agreeing to put them into abeyance once she stepped down as a senior working royal.
