The Melodee Buzzard true crime case took a turn in court on Wednesday, with Ashlee Buzzard facing charges of felony false imprisonment. Notably, the court let her go and she will return on November 13. Plus, more hearings will be on November 19 and 20. If the FBI hoped she would stay behind bars, then they might have been disappointed.

Another Look With  No Wig

In court, Ashlee looked very different from the few surveillance camera shots. Gone was the wig, when she left the court. When News Nation’s Nancy Loo reported on what happened, she explained that although Ashlee was free to go, she was wearing a GPS locator.

The victim, Tyler Brewer, who claimed she had a “box cutter” and locked him in her home when he went to check up on her, can’t be approached by Ashlee. Meanwhile, something else interesting arrived. He had previously told Nancy that Ashlee told him she took her daughter, Melodee Buzzard, to Utah.

The Family Seeks Custody

Some people opined that perhaps she feared her late husband’s family wanted to take her daughter away from her. Well, the grandmother was also in the court. And, it seems confirmed that she was, indeed, trying to get custody of the child. If that’s the case, then many people might suspect that Ashlee Buzzard took the child away from the reach of the family.

Her mental health has been mentioned a few times, by both Tyler and by the family. Naturally, many people hope that Ashlee’s mental health wasn’t so bad that she decided if she couldn’t have Melodee, then nobody should. For now, it all remains speculation. And, folks can only sit and watch and hope the child is safe.

The Disappearance Of Melodee

Melodee Buzzard disappeared on October 9, 2025. Surveliance cameras recorded Melodee and her mom, Ashlee Buzzard, both in disguise and traveling in a white 2024 Chevrolet Malibu.

The court case wasn’t related to Melodee’s disappearance and came after Tyler Brewer claimed she held him captive for hours. Speaking with News Nation, Tyler claimed that he was simply checking on Ashlee’s well-being, as he had known her for over a decade.

Not Cooperating

Another story that arose was that a neighbor filmed Ashlee receiving a delivery of moving boxes, so the arrest for the incident with Tyler might have been seen as a way to prevent Ashlee from fleeing the state.

So far, Ashlee has been uncooperative with the investigation into her daughter’s disappearance. With speculation that the child might have been trafficked, or even unharmed, true crime followers just hope for some sort of happy outcome.

The Public React

In the comments section of the latest update, one viewer wrote, “I don’t understand why she isn’t arrested for her child’s disappearance!? It doesn’t make sense! If you don’t take your children to school they arrest you! What’s up with the DA?”

Here are a few other responses from the discussion:

  • The female in the photo at the car rental place with Ashley doesn’t look like a young child .
  • It’s the downward angle of the camera that makes Melodee look taller, a sort of optical illusion, but it is Melodee.
  • I miss Lompoc. Sad that it is shown in this horrible light. Find Melodee
