Melodee Buzzard disappeared in October, and ever since then her mom, Ashlee Buzzard, hasn’t been cooperating with police. Well, a new development revealed that she told someone where her daughter is. But, digging deeper, did she tell the truth? Read on for a new update.

Events So Far

The case is being investigated by the FBI as a true crime. Mainly, because the missing child seemed disguised with a wig. Plus, her mom acted suspiciously by not reporting her disappearance. While on a road trip, she changed plates and made a wandering journey via a number of states.

The next thing, Ashlee was seen taking delivery of some moving boxes. So, some people thought she might try and flee. That came after an extensive search of her home. But she ended up arrested and faces charges of detaining a person against their will.

Tyler Brewer Was Allegedly Held Captive

That person, Tyler S. Brewer, claims he knew Ashlee from over a decade ago. And, he’s been calling on her since Melodee Buzzard disappeared.

Well, he told News Nation’s Nancy Loo that when he went around recently, she locked him in the house and threatened him, accusing him of working with the police. Plus, she thought he was working with her later husband’s family to take Melodee away from her.

Anyway, he claims that she said she took Melodee to Utah to stay with someone in a safe place. However, in a follow-up report, Brian Entin discussed it a bit more on Tuesday night. After recapping the true crime case, he also discussed the development with former FBI agent, Steve Moore.

The Truth Or Nah?

Moore seems to be a good former agent, with a level head. In his opinion, law enforcement agencies “kept this particular crime in their hip pocket in case they needed to roll her up, which they eventually needed to.”

Notably, the former agent believes that the cops would have “investigated everything that this person said, that she told him about the location of the child.” But in his opinion, probably, they couldn’t locate Melodee.

Asked why she wasn’t arrested straight away, Moore opined that the agents “didn’t want to,” at least not when it happened. And his reasoning is that they still hoped for the possibility that Ashlee Buzzard might lead them to the missing child.

As for whether she told Tyler the truth about her child being in Utah, Moore disbelieves Ashlee. He explained his reasoning:

She’s certainly not going to tell somebody who could repeat what she’s saying. She’s not going to make a guilty utterance, basically, to this person and say something that would get her in trouble.

Then they talked about how people make up lies as “they go along.” He opined that “there’s no truth to it.” Something else that the duo talked about was the fact that neither of them had heard “about a huge search in Utah and all sorts of police activity in Utah.”

Responses In The Comments

In the comments section, true crime followers who’d been enthusiastic when the story about the witness arrived, felt let down. And many of them still believe something fearful happened. One of them wrote, “This feels similar to when Lori Vallow told people her children were with trusted friends…”

Here are a few more responses:

  • This mother is so unstable that anything could be true. I am hoping for the best.
  • Reminds me of the Casey Anthony case. The mother claims she left the daughter with someone else.
  • If she hasn’t told an officer where she is, then I’m worried she is gone. I’m glad “mom” is in custody. Justice for Melodee!
