The release of Meghan Markle’s Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan’ has drawn many criticisms for its bland and uninspiring nature.
For The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Daily Mail and many other well-known industry publications, the series was just a showing of grandiose, with very little substance.
Despite this, Meghan surprised fans by announcing that the show has been renewed for a second season. Though, if you ask fans, they’re simply convinced that the second season had already been filmed and so Netflix has no choice but to forge on despite the show getting panned.
Variety Points Out Several Weak Points In Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show
Prior to the release of the series, Meghan promised fans that her goal is to elevate simple things and show them how to host visitors, whether they’re high profile ones or simply old friends.
Regardless, Meghan tried to achieve this in the series, but without much substance, it could only entertain for so long.
For one thing, Meghan doesn’t seem to be capable of thinking on her feet and spends time repeating certain phrases with the occasional word salads.
Variety’s review goes on to say: “With Love, Meghan exists as a sort of celebration of all things Duchess of Sussex — and, as with past of her media outings, no amount of praise seems enough. With Love, Meghan is made with a great deal of love — in the sense that the greatest love of all is the one that a person has for herself.”
Meghan Markle Confirms the Renewal of ‘With Love, Meghan’
Despite the harah criticisms that the show drew before and after its premiere, Netflix surprised everyone by renewing it for a second season run.
Meghan confirmed the exciting news on her Instagram page shortly after the release of the first one.
“Lettuce romaine calm… or not(!) because I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming!”
Speaking on the decision, a TV insider told The Sun: “This may raise a few eyebrows but one thing which Netflix love is controversy – and this show certainly created a lot of debate.
Many were so scathing about the eight-part series that they thought there was no way it would get another season. But it seems the streamer is delighted with the chatter its created on both sides of the Atlantic this week.”
It remains to be seen how much this chatter will drive the show’s success. It certainly didn’t help with Alec Baldwin’s ‘The Baldwins,’ I can tell you that.
