GH Steve Burton Speaks Out On Jason’s Recent Shady Move Among Fan Outcry

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Jason Morgan recently pulled a rather shady move that was extremely out of character, and his portrayer, Steve Burton, recently spoke out about it. Find out more about this by reading below.

Jason Morgan’s Dark Side

General Hospital spoilers note that Jason is a criminal who constantly breaks the law; however, he’s always followed a moral compass.

Things have gotten very messy in the land of Port Charles, especially in Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) mob feud against Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and Jason got involved in a very bad way.

After Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) almost lost her life in a fire attack on Charlie’s Pub (orchestrated by Sidwell), Sonny retaliated by having Jason kidnap Sidwell’s son, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo).

Kidnapping an innocent victim was very out of character for both Sonny and Jason; however, they both felt they needed to take a hard stance against Sidwell.

With that said, some fans have felt a tad uneasy about the move and Jason’s role in it, as Marco was tied up and gagged at one point.

Steve Burton Addresses This

Steve Burton, along with his co-host, Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) talked about the storyline during their ‘Stone Cold and the Jackal’ podcast.

Anderson noted that some GH viewers thought the arc was ‘too dark’. Burton noted that at the end of the day, fans can’t forget what Jason does for a living. He added, “Fifteen years ago, nobody would have any questions about this at all.”

This was because Jason was defined by his job, Sonny’s informer … a hitman that had to get violent from time to time.

Burton pointed out that more recently, Jason has done less of this kind of work for Sonny, which is almost an issue.

He believes this is why some fans are having a problem with his recent actions. In fact, during the chat, Burton struggled to remember the last time Jason killed someone (he recalled a sniper on the docks after Jason’s return).

In terms of Sonny’s call to kidnap Marco, Burton states, “I think they were trying to make Sonny, Sonny again — the old Sonny, compared to this Sonny — when he killed Jagger, I think they were trying to reinstate that edge. He’s in charge.”

Plus, Burton acknowledges that at the end of the day, nothing stays the same forever, both in real life and in soaps. He adds, “… there is progression in life and people do grow. Sonny’s talking about and I’m talking about getting out of the business.”
