General Hospital introduced Professor Dalton in May 2025, soap fans were thrilled by the casting news. Most viewers recognized Daniel Goddard from his popular role as Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless.
When Y&R fired Goddard, a lot of fans were upset by the news. Apparently the actor himself is still a bit disgruntled with how TPTB handled his character on the CBS soap.
A popular complaint on social media from fans is that the Y&R writers wrote Cane Ashby in to a corner and didn’t give the actor great storylines towards the end. It sounds like Daniel Goddard shares the same sentiments.
Cane Ashby Written Off Young And The Restless
Cane Ashby was introduced on The Young and the Restless in 2007, and Goddard played the part up until his exit in 2019. Cane is most well known for his lengthy relationship with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) over the years, the two share two children.
Not a lot of GH spoilers have come out regarding Dalton, but it’s obvious he is involved with some sort of WSB drama and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is certain that he is up to no good in Port Charles.
The former Young and the Restless actor recently sat down with Women’s Day Magazine to discuss his new gig on GH and the mysterious Professor Dalton. When talk turned to his time in Genoa City as Cane, Daniel made some interesting comments in his interview.
Daniel Goddard Talks New Role
Goddard Dished to Woman’s Day, “I’ve never got an offer for anything! I’ve had to fight an uphill battle for every acting role I’ve ever gotten.” The General Hospital cast member added, “And in a bizarre way, it felt like those 12 years or so on Y&R amounted to nothing, because I was back to auditioning.”
