GH Spoilers: Ezra Boyle Takes Advantage Of Laura’s Absence And Takes The Mayoral Race

General Hospital spoilers indicate that the mayoral race in Port Charles will heat up this fall as Laura Collins (Genie Francis) faces off with Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove).

We know that Laura will soon take an absence from Port Charles, as she does at the same time every year as Genie Francis takes her annual vacation.

This could lead to developments in the story, as Ezra will fully exploit this, and use it to his advantage in the mayoral race.

Laura Collins Leaves Port Charles And It Affects Her Campaign

Laura could leave Port Charles sometime soon. Perhaps to deal with the death of her mother, Leslie Webber (Denise Alexander, who passed away earlier this year). Or she could be taking a vacation with her husband, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).

Laura’s absence could have a negative effect on her mayoral campaign. Leaving the town when the town is in turbulence with Measure C, would not be a good look for Laura. Although she could have very good reasons, Ezra would use that to his advantage in the election.

Laura Collins Returns In Time For the Election

Normally, Laura spends the late summer/early fall away from Port Charles, and this year could be no different. However, it is very likely that Laura will return in time for the mayoral election in November.

In the meantime, Ezra will make sure to trash Laura any chance that he gets, exploiting her absence, and making sure it looks like she abandoned her post as mayor.

Laura would defend herself and explain the reasons for her temporary departure from Port Charles, and the public could forgive her.

Election Day Arrives And Ezra Boyle Is Relentless

Election Day arrives, and Ezra comes after Laura any chance he gets. He says that the mayor can take long leaves of absence from Port Charles, especially when the city is in turmoil.

He would cite that Laura has taken frequent absences from her post as Mayor over the years, and tells Port Charles that he would never do that as the city is his priority.

This would definitely be on the voter’s minds on election day, and the vote could not go in Laura’s favor. Everyone is shocked when Ezra Boyle is elected the new Mayor of Port Charles.

Laura Collins Takes Her Loss In Stride But Ezra Boyle’s Election Spells Trouble

Now that Laura has lost the election, she would be the bigger person and concede and congratulate Ezra, would be a horrible jerk, and gloat. Laura would tell Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) that the city is in serious trouble now that Ezra has taken the reins as Mayor.

Jordan would agree, and make sure to keep a close eye on his association with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Laura would be worried about the future of Port Charles, and would vow to make sure to keep the city safe even though she has lost her position as mayor.
