GH Spoilers: Drew Embodies The Fallout of Faison’s Disturbing Brainwashing Tactics?

General Hospital: Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison)

General Hospital spoilers and updates indicate that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) appears quite different these days, a stark contrast to the brave Navy Seal we were introduced to years back.

He was once such a wonderful person; so, did he simply turn bad without cause, or is there a deeper story behind it?

Could Drew Have Been Programmed, Possibly By Cesar Faison?

Drew  showed up at Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) memorial, causing a stir as his presence was unwelcome; however, this wasn’t his worst offense.

With Cesar Faison‘s (Anders Hove) name being mentioned frequently, one has to question if he is responsible for the terrible changes in Drew.

We will discuss the possibility of Faison programming Drew, potentially brainwashing him into his current unpleasant state, especially with the mysterious “C” noted on the delivery of Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) medicine.

Britt was visibly shocked to see the signature on the note, leading to rumors her late father is the mysterious big boss. At least, we THINK Cesar is dead; additionally, we will explore when and how this might have occurred.

If It Isn’t Faison, Could It Be Someone Who Learned From Him?

Clearly, we are all still waiting to find out if Faison has returned, considering as Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) put it, his brain’s in a jar.

But there are numerous warning signs suggesting either his return or that someone influenced by him or having collaborated with him is engaging in bizarre experiments and antics.

We can rule out Liesl Obrecht, (Kathleen Gati) unless her not knowing Britt was alive, or Nathan, was merely an act.

This could also have been in Peter August aka Heinrich Faison’s (Wes Ramsey) wheelhouse, but Drew is still an improvement on him, and as far as we know, he’s dead too!

However, this mirrors the actions of Britt and Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) father during his years on the ABC soap; regarding Drew, he was a genuinely good person for a long time.

When Did Drew Make The Shift?

Do you recall when exactly Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) twin turned to the dark side-it occurred towards the end of Drew’s imprisonment in Pentonville.

This September marks nearly two years since Drew was brutally beaten while incarcerated. At that time, it seemed like Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) had orchestrated the attack, yet he was the one who alerted the guards to save Drew’s life.

This was never fully verified, however, although Drew had saved Cyrus’ life as well. This incident took place about seven months after Britt was allegedly killed, but someone was behind her resurrection, and that person could have been her father.

Drew’s Devastating Deterioration From Good Guy To Bad Guy

Since that beating, Drew has undergone a drastic personality change for the worse. He transformed from a courageous Navy Seal, someone Monica Quartermaine and others were proud to call family, into the most despised individual in Port Charles.

None of the characters truly inquired about Drew’s transformation, although at one point, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) considered checking his medical records to confirm his identity. However, that idea was abandoned—likely  this is merely a shift in writing.

Now, it seems they might retroactively attempt to provide an explanation, although when they first changed Drew they didn’t seem to have put a lot of thought into it.

Drew Could Have Had An Untreated Traumatic Brain Injury

It’s possible that the brutal beating he received in Pentonville led to an untreated traumatic brain injury, resulting in a significant personality change, transforming Drew from a hero into someone much worse.

Alternatively, there could be a more sinister explanation, perhaps a genuine conspiracy-for instance, Faison or another villain might have captured Drew and turned him into this monster.

One possible clue  is that the house Drew purchased for himself and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) is the  same set used for Hank “Shiloh” Archer’s (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) Dawn of Day house.

Additionally, it was also the location for Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) home, which he bought for himself, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke) before their breakup.

Charlotte’s brainwashing by her grandfather Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) tarot cards-which were also used by Peter to brainwash Drew-happened during that time too, leading to Charlotte’s accidental shooting by Anna.

Shiloh Was Involved After The Fact In The Memory Mapping Experiment

Shiloh was involved after the fact in the memory mapping experiment that transferred Jason’s memories into Drew’s mind years ago, so it all connects.

This is also  how Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) ended up with Drew’s memories, as Drew at that time chose not to remember-he wanted to keep his new memories.

So, is Drew in that house for a specific reason-is it an Easter egg for fans, it confirms  the direction we’re heading.

Faison also participated in brainwashing and memory modifications, and if you don’t recall, up until Drew went to prison for insider trading to safeguard Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), he was doing well.

Fans have been curious for some time about how Drew transitioned from that to the sleazeball we see now.

Faison’s Creepy Resurrection And The Troubling Legacy Of His Sons

With the return of two of Faison’s three children occurring consecutively, we can’t help but speculate if Faison will soon reappear on our GH screens.

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is shocked to see Jay, her brother—though technically her cousin, short for James—back from the dead, and he has no recollection of the past seven years.

We’ve also heard that someone, possibly Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard), was conducting experiments on Nathan.

If Faison is indeed back and was willing to experiment on his own son, undoubtedly he would also manipulate Drew’s mind, just as Peter and Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) did.

GH viewers should remember that Drew and Jason were kidnapped separately, at about the same time, and memory mapped in an effort to make Helena a “toy soldier”.

Faison Worked Closely With Helena

Faison collaborated closely with Helena, who once had Drew programmed as her personal assassin-the “toy soldier” we mentioned.

Initially, Helena intended for Jason to handle her dirty work; however, due to his brain scarring, memory mapping and mind control were ineffective on him.

Later, Helena discovered Jason had a twin and opted to use Drew instead, and memory mapping was also applied to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), whom Faison had been obsessed with for years.

For a long time, Anna believed she was the mother of Faison’s third child, but it  was revealed that Peter’s true mother was actually Anna’s evil twin, Alex Marek (Finola Hughes).

Years later, Peter programmed Drew and manipulated him using a tarot card along with specific activation phrases.

Victor Also Sought To Control Drew

If you recall, Victor was eager to dominate Drew in the same manner, but it never succeeded.

At one point, the programming that Peter implemented in Drew was disabled after Jason discovered which card it was, and they took it. However, it’s possible that Faison managed to reach Drew while he was at General Hospital following the beating.

With Britt and Nathan resurrected, Peter might also be alive-so, it’s conceivable that Faison conducted unethical experiments on Drew, or perhaps his son Peter is back to his old tricks.

Using his father’s twisted science on the congressman, Peter is undoubtedly his father’s son, intending  for Drew to become a sort of destructive agent of chaos to unleash turmoil.
