In an exclusive interview, the Daytime Emmy winner expressed her pride in portraying an ’empowered’ character who has been central to numerous storylines over the years.

In a lighthearted moment, she also hinted at her desire to be part of the most outrageous soap opera storyline ever, where Diane is revealed to be a ‘superhero’. During the launch of the spring issue of Aspiring Magazine, Carolyn discussed her ideas for General Hospital in 2026.

Carolyn Talks About Her Character

She mentioned, ‘We really lack insight into Diane’s background, so I’ve imagined her origins as part of a circus family. I would be thrilled to see Damian Spinelli as Diane’s long-lost son.

Additionally, I envision Diane running a speakeasy in a rough neighborhood, where she lounges over the piano five nights a week, reminiscent of The Fabulous Baker Boys-and I get to perform.’

Carolyn shared that she proposed the idea of a lounge singer career: ‘Absolutely, I’ve suggested it. And Frank Valentini (the Executive Producer) has a lot on his agenda-he said, ‘I know you can sing, perhaps one day we’ll make it happen.’

Diane And Alexis Should Be Cat Burglars

I believe Diane and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) should be compelled to take on the roles of cat burglars-fans are already eager to see Spinelli as my boy.

And with my cabaret act gaining popularity, people are asking when I will perform. It’s like, I don’t know, maybe start a writing campaign for it.’

In a lighter moment, Carolyn mused about how executives could craft the most outrageous plot for Diane in daytime television.

‘Picture this: at the top of the Empire State Building, Diane hang glides off in a scene straight out of a Marvel comic.

Carolyn mentioned that Diane’s experiences have been quite ordinary: ‘I haven’t had my organs taken, been possessed, or killed and returned as my twin. It’s funny because I thought I was turning 18, but now I realize I’m actually 19, and 20 is coming soon.

What is going on-I started with just a two-day role, a two-episode part. This shows aspiring actors that you never know what might happen!’

Carolyn Already Has A Link To Spinelli

Carolyn already has a connection to Spinelli, having written the 2011 novel The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli about GH characters. She says, ‘General Hospital fans are some of the smartest and most dedicated viewers.

Their love for the show is genuine because they know we give our best. It’s more than just a fan-celebrity relationship; it’s like family since we’re in their homes five days a week for an hour.
