As General Hospital (GH) fans continue to mourn the loss of Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando Corbin), who tragically lost his life just over a year ago, the actor’s last project debuted this week.
The movie, “Ciao, Mama”, was shown during an indie film festival in California, ‘Dances with Films’ at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre. Among those in attendance was GH star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
More About ‘Ciao, Momma’
GH spoilers remind fans that Benard played Wactor’s onscreen cousin, as Sonny’s father, Mike Corbin (Max Gail) was the brother of Brando’s mom, Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs).
Back to “Ciao, Mamma”, the film follows Tony Esposito (played by Micah Joe Parker), who returns to his hometown of Long Island, NY, for his beloved mom’s funeral.
Before her passing, she made everyone in the family promise that they would not tell him she had cancer, as he was chasing his dreams. In addition to playing Marco in the movie, Wactor was also the producer.
As per “Ciao Mamma’s” Creative Team, the title of the movie was changed as a tribute to the late actor. In a statement, via the flick’s Instagram handle, they note, “While ‘American Sognare’ beautifully captured the spirit of chasing dreams, ‘Ciao, Mama’ speaks even more profoundly to the heart of our story — especially in the wake of the heartbreaking loss of our beloved friend and co-star, Johnny Wactor.”

The IG statement goes on to say, “This new title is more than a name. It’s a farewell. It’s a love letter. And it’s a promise — to keep dreaming, to keep creating, and to carry the torch forward, just as Johnny always did. Ciao, Mama is a tribute to Johnny, to the journey, and to the enduring power of dreams.”
Scholarship Tribute
In addition, Hills & Thrills Productions, the producers of “Ciao, Momma,” have set up a scholarship fund to honor Wactor, called ‘Johnny’s Mile’.
Sadly, Wactor’s life was taken too soon when he was shot and killed in L.A. during the early hours of May 25, 2024, after finishing a bartending shift at a local establishment.
He was taking a co-worker to her vehicle when he noticed a group of individuals trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Johnny Wactor’s family, loved ones, and fans. Continue to visit this site for the most up-to-date news and spoilers from the land of daytime drama.
