FUBAR starred Arnold Schwarzenegger on Netflix, but it only ran for two seasons. Canceled, there won’t be a third installment of the live-action TV series. Recently, Arnold sort of blamed his son, Patrick, for the show’s demise. Read on to find out more.
Patrick’s Fault?
Obviously, Arnold is proud of his son. However, he blamed the success of his offspring for the end of FUBAR. This week, The Sun US noted that on the Netflix show, “Arnie played a CIA operative forced to shelve retirement.” Then, tongue-in-cheek, the outlet added, “The show clearly couldn’t compete with Patrick flashing his privates as alpha male Saxon on The White Lotus.”
What Did Arnold Say?
During the interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed a bit rueful when he talked about his son. He mentioned that in the old days, when he went to the gym, people wanted to meet him. Cards from women would constantly come his way. But ever since Patrick got famous, he gets approached so people can connect with Patrick.
He added, “Now everything is about Patrick, Patrick, Patrick.” And, “Patrick blew it out of the water.” Goodbye, FUBAR. But he seemed to be joking. The real reason why the Netflix show was canceled probably came down to diminishing viewership, rather than family dynamics.
Canceled Because Of Declining Interest
Soap Central reported on the viewership just a few days ago. According to their report, Netflix pulled the plug because, after a strong response from viewers in 2023, the ratings dropped. Season 2, which premiered in June this year, simply didn’t get the same level of interest.
The showrunners didn’t confirm that as the official reason for skipping Season 3, but it seems obvious that if a show can’t pull in the audience, something is wrong. From over a billion views in Season 1, Season 2 dropped by 73 percent, with only 412 million views. The second season managed to enter the Top 10 briefly before quickly dropping out.
Viewers Were Not Shocked
When folks discuss the cancellation of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s FUBAR, one Redditor wrote, “The first weekend was just 20% of its first season’s debut. That’s an abysmal retention.”
Here are a few more reactions:
- I hadn’t even heard of this show until now. These days I swear the first time I hear about so many shows is when they get cancelled.
- It was so mediocre, I just stopped watching half way through season 1. It wasn’t bad, I just found better things to watch and never went back.
- I watched the first half of the season, got bored and simply never picked it back up. I wanted to like it.
What are your thoughts about there being no Season 3? Do you agree that it got boring, rather than Patrick’s standout performance stealing fans away from his dad’s show? Let us know in the comments below, and come back here often for all your TV show entertainment and celebrity news.
