The true crime case of missing Melodee Buzzard took a major turn with the news that her mother Ashlee Buzzard was arrested on a felony charge of false imprisonment. Well, the person who was allegedly held against their will is now known, and is talking about what happened. Read on for more details.
An Update On The False Imprisonment
Even though the arrest was said to be “technically unrelated” to the daughter’s disappearance, it’s been reported by sources that this move is a kind of chess play. In fact, it might give detectives more control and leverage over the search. On Monday, correspondent Nancy Loo, in an update with Ashleigh Banfield on News Nation revealed details from a recently unsealed criminal complaint.

The document claimed that on November 6, 2025, Ashlee Buzzard “did unlawfully violate the personal liberty of Tyler S. Brewer.” It described it as an act that was “accomplished by violence, menace fraud and deceit.”
The document seemed short but quite detailed, showing that the crime “was carefully planned, highly sophisticated and professional.” As per Loo, Buzzard will make a court appearance regarding the charge on Wednesday.
The Victim Talks To Nancy
The victim of the case, Tyler Brewer, also shared his side of the story in an exclusive interview with Nancy. Brewer, who claims he’s been acquainted with Ashlee since 2014, asserted that she informed him where Melodee was “dropped off and who she was left with.”
However, he wouldn’t say anything more for a number of reasons. Firstly, he seemed to have doubts about Ashlee’s mental health. And that is something her own relatives referred to from the start of the true crime investigation.
Nancy cited Tyler Brewer as saying that she’s “very paranoid” and a “completely different person” than she used to be. In his story, he claimed that she allegedly blocked a door and engaged several locks so that he wouldn’t be able to leave. When he got out, he immediately told the cops about it.
Claims Melodee Is In Utah
As far as Melodee Buzzard goes, he believes that the child could be “in Utah somewhere.” Of course, that opens up a possible new direction for the case and the chance that the girl at the center of the true crime case is alive.
The timing of the arrest corresponded to the viewpoint of former FBI Agent Steve Moore, who earlier opined that the act of arresting Ashlee on any charge was a deliberate move. The action of arresting her at the location “locks it down,” or “safeguards” any evidence. Plus, it gives officers full access to the scene without any hindrance.
At the time, he also felt the imprisonment charges could be minor. Well, that seems to have changed now after Brewer reported his bad experience to the cops. Nevertheless, with Ashlee behind bars and a newfound lead about Utah, hopefully, the case proceeds faster.
Viewers React
Many people follow the true crime case of Melodee Buzzard and her mom, who hasn’t cooperated with the police investigation. So, the news found a lot of reactions. One person opined, “I don’t think she told him the truth.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion area:
- Ashlee is very paranoid and believes people are trying to take Melodee away. I think she intended to move to another area where she feels safe and then bring Melodee home. I don’t think she has hurt her at all.
- Hopefully she left the child with someone safe. She’s probably delusional and thought the child would be taken away from her? I know. My mother was a paranoid schizophrenic.
- He’s involved. Why wouldn’t you share what she told you[?]
