EastEnders spoilers and updates for the week of December 22 reveal Nigel Bates’ (Paul Bradley) film is shown, while the Slater family tries to cheer up Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan).
Also, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) returns to Albert Square, and the Mitchell bunch and the Branning gang also have an eventful holiday.
Nigel’s Film Screening Takes Place As Friends And Family Worry
The residents come together to see Nigel’s holiday film screening, but Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) are worried about his worsening health and the need for different care options.
When Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) shows up at the community centre, Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) makes it clear that she is not welcome, and Julie reveals a big secret- Sam has been back in the country for months but has only just arrived in Walford.
Directed by Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), Nige steps onto the stage to address his audience, with Julie beside him. He spots the bruise on her face and, realizing he caused it, quickly leaves the building.
Phil And Julie’s Frantic Search, Truemans Wary, Zack Annoyed
Phil and Julie start a frantic search for him, unaware he overheard their fight and rushed to The Vic; at the same time, a hidden truth emerges. Max Branning (Jake Wood) asks Lauren Beale (Jacqueline Jossa) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) for help with the fallout.
They assure him they’ve convinced him not to rush into a decision; unbeknownst to them, he has also shared his thoughts with Zoe and may regret what follows. The Truemans are cautious about Dr. Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey).
Meanwhile, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) conceals his irritation during an awkward meeting with Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) – he is asked to go back to No. 43.
A Nigel-Centric Episode Focusing On His Dementia
In a unique episode, Nigel finds himself lost in memories of Christmases gone by, and in his heightened state of confusion, he envisions Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) and Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) celebrating at the pub.
Meanwhile, the residents next door remain engrossed in the film screening, oblivious to the drama that is unfolding.
Phil interrupts the festivities, commanding everyone to leave, but once he is left alone with the footage still playing, a realization dawns on him.
Nige is soon discovered by Phil and Julie, who have come to understand that they require additional support for his care. The duo gets ready to reveal the truth to him.
The Truemans’ Carol Service, The Slaters Try To Cheer Up Zoe, Sam’s Bombshell
As Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) gets ready for her carol service, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) and Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) try to cheer Anthony.
It’s his first Christmas away from his wife and kids-it quickly becomes clear that he is not in a celebratory mood.
Meanwhile, across the Square, the Slaters notice that Zoe is feeling similarly down, having set aside her stalking issues for the past week. Kat has her doubts and accuses Sam.
In a surprising turn of events, Sam reveals that she has cancer and is actually seeking support from Zack. Later, as the residents make their way to the carol concert, Zoe uncovers a shocking revelation at home.
Oscar’s Shocking Revelation, Nigel’s Loved Ones’ Sad Realization
In the meantime, Max is the talk of the town, and he has plenty of olive branches to offer. He initially tries to win over Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) but is interrupted by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). After drowning his sorrows, Oscar reveals something to Max that could jeopardize everything.
Meanwhile, Julie, Phil, and Sam come to the realization that Nigel has forgotten what happened the day before, leading the siblings to have a heartfelt discussion about family.
Lastly, Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) realizes that his biological father, Zack, has feelings for Vicki.
The Slaters Clash With Another Family At The Vic
Kat is overjoyed to celebrate her first Christmas with Zoe in twenty years, but that joy isn’t mutual-she’s anxious after what she discovered yesterday.
A large community dinner is planned at The Vic, but it quickly turns chaotic as the Slaters clash with another family, leading to a shocking revelation.
Just when things seem to settle down, another issue arises, forcing Kat to evacuate everyone for Zoe’s safety. No one can foresee the impending events, which will have disastrous effects on everyone involved.
Zack Spreads Christmas Cheer Feeding Hungry Patrons, Cindy Returns
Meanwhile, Zack takes it upon himself to feed the eager patrons at No. 31, while the Brannings and the Beales enjoy their turkey dinner at No. 45. The return of Cindy raises red flags for ex-husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and son Peter Beale (Thomas Law).
They need to keep her away from Max – after all, he did kill Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) – but they inadvertently offend her by making it clear she isn’t welcome.
Max is unable to dismiss what Oscar has revealed, and more secrets come to light around the dinner table. This, of course, creates even more tension.
Police Descend Upon The Square The Day After Christmas-A Christmastime Catastrophe?
Law enforcement arrives at Albert Square, where the local residents are left to grapple with the aftermath of an especially tumultuous holiday season. It seems that a Christmastime catastrophe occurs for those present.
For those caught up in the events, there seems to be an overwhelming number of questions without clear answers, making it difficult to envision a path ahead.
Meanwhile, in a different part of town, the Mitchell family is relishing a day free from drama, as Nigel takes charge of organizing the details to ensure it becomes a memorable occasion.
