DOOL Spoilers: New Writers Offer Sneak Peek On ‘What’s To Come’ In Salem

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: New Writers Offer Sneak Peek On ‘What’s To Come’ In SalemDays of Our Lives spoilers remind fans that ex-Head Writer, Ron Carlivati, left the soap in July 2024 and was replaced by Jeanne Marie Ford and Paula Cwikly.

As the show films months ahead of broadcast, the material that new writers produced is slated to start airing on Thursday, April 24, and SOS has a sneak peek into what fans can expect on the horizon.

Familiar Faces To Appear

Ford and Cwikly spoke to TV Insider, noting that one of the first storylines they wrote about was the soap’s 60th anniversary celebration.

The two hinted that, come November 2025, fans will see the “return of many familiar faces, leading to a new umbrella story that takes us into the New Year.”

In the meantime, fans can expect Peter Reckell to reprise his legendary Bo Brady role and Kristian Alfonso to bring Hope Williams Brady back on the canvas very soon.

In addition, Gwen Rizczech will make a comeback on July 7, as Emily O’Brien steps back into the role.

The new head writers also told TV Insider that they want to return to the “roots” of the show, which is about family, as well as love and romance.

They go on to say, “We won’t totally abandon the fantastical types of plots Days has become known for, but human relationships will be at the foundation of all of the stories we tell.”

Ford and Cwikly added that they plan to bring more Hortons back to storylines, providing ‘meaningful’ arcs to some veterans, as well as ‘flesh out’ the show’s younger cast to present a multigenerational appeal to Salem.

John Black’s Goodbye

Ford and Cwikly were also in charge of writing John Black’s exit storyline. Drake Hogestyn passed away in September 2024 after battling cancer; however, he did give the okay and helped with the arc before his death.

The new writers note that, “Everyone on the show, including us, loved John and Drake. They were both Superman, and this was not supposed to happen.”

They added, “Logistically, it was difficult because it was our first major story. It was an emotionally fraught situation that involved numerous variables beyond our control. First and foremost, we wanted to respect Drake’s legacy and everyone who loved him.”
