As most know by now, on Wednesday, September 10, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a Utah Valley University event.
He was only 31 years of age. On Friday morning, President Donald Trump visited “Fox & Friends” to announce that the person of interest in this case is now in custody.
Trump’s Information On The Case
Trump stated that he has a “high degree of certainty” that the person authorities have been looking for in regard to Kirk’s shooting is currently behind bars. The U.S. President also added that he found out the news approximately five minutes before appearing on the program.
Trump praised everyone involved in the search, noting, they all “… did a great job,” while also reflecting on how hard it was to track the suspect down.
During the “Fox and Friends” interview, Trump revealed that someone close to the suspect turned him in, implying a minister helped bring the suspect into authorities, along with family members. With that said, other news outlets are stating the suspect’s father turned him in.
Presidential Medal of Freedom
Trump announced on Thursday, September 11, that Charlie Kirk would be posthumously receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In honor of the Turning Point U.S.A. Found & President, as well as the host of The Charlie Kirk Show, Trump ordered all American government flags to be placed at half-staff until Sunday, September 14.
In addition to his other accolades, including being a devoted husband and father of two, Kirk toured U.S. university campuses, encouraging political discussion and positive debate on social issues. He acquired a significant fan base both in and outside of social media thanks to his political beliefs and Christian faith. His passing has stirred a lot of emotion among his followers, so knowing that his shooter has been found will offer a little bit of comfort to his family, friends, peers, and fans.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika, and his two young children, as well as the rest of his family and loved ones. Stay tuned to SOS for more updates on this ongoing story.
