In a conversation with TV Insider, the actor revealed that when he informed GH EP Frank Valentini about his casting in BTG, he was given the chance to keep the door open.

That way, Kevin can make guest appearances. Jon said, “When I reached out to Frank to let him know I would be joining Beyond the Gates on Election Day 2024, he asked me, ‘Can you manage both?”  I replied, ‘Well, technically, yes, since I’m not under contract, the only complication is that they’re 2,000 miles apart”.

The ABC Soap And The CBS Soap Are Filmed A Continent Apart

Although Port Charles is based in New York, the actual filming takes place in Los Angeles. This wouldn’t pose an issue if BTG weren’t shot in Atlanta, complicating the logistics of managing both roles.

Lindstrom noted that his appearances as Kevin had dwindled to about once or twice a month before he took on the role of Joey, meaning there wasn’t an ongoing storyline that required development.

However, this didn’t imply he was free to participate in an episode occasionally, considering his commitments to BTG. This situation clarifies why it has been a year since GH fans last saw Lindstrom.

Nonetheless, when the GH team managed to devise a solution, he accepted their proposal. To their credit, they approached me and suggested, ‘What if we schedule several shows over a few days? Would that make the trip worthwhile for you?’

The quick answer is, ‘Absolutely.’ Moreover, I believe Genie Francis is growing weary of conversing with a disembodied Kevin over the phone.

Kevin’s return will be pivotal as GH navigates the repercussions of Professor Henry Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) passing, which has led Laura to rely on Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Lindstrom mentioned that Kevin isn’t fond of this situation, but “he also comprehends it. Being the therapist that he is, he recognizes the importance of human connection.” Regarding whether the actor will be making regular trips to Port Charles, that will hinge on his availability.

He remarked, “I’m open to doing GH anytime. I just can’t say if we can coordinate it. I’m busier than I’ve ever been, and I thought I’d be retired by now!”

 And Lindstrom is indeed quite occupied; not only is he portraying two characters on two different soap operas, but he’s also an upcoming author, actively promoting his books.
