After a Nevada jury declared her guilty of the horrific murder of her ex-husband, a Las Vegas woman, Devyn Michaels is looking at life imprisonment without any chance of parole. The 47-year-old adult film actress was found guilty of brutally decapitating Johnathan Willette.
A Love Triangle & Brutal Murder
The web of deceit also included Devyn secretly marrying Johnathan’s son. The guilty decision by the jury arrived on November 14. They found her guilty of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon. Actually, the true crime case attracted a lot of attention, mainly from videos on Court TV on YouTube.

During the verdict reading, the jury had to read out a mouthful of names. In fact, Michaels used several different names, including Devin Jane Michaels, Devin Willett, Nikki Fairchild, Tracy Baker, and Tracy Nicole Tavarez.
Turning Down A Plea Deal
The verdict seemed expected, but she possibly made an error last year when she turned down a plea deal for 15 years behind bars on second-degree murder. Changing her mind after agreeing to it, she took it to trial.

Notably, the risk didn’t pay off because the jury eventually decided that she was guilty of a more serious offense. So, she faces a probable life sentence without the possibility of parole.
The prosecution team had a solid argument to present, claiming that Michaels killed Willette after he was granted sole custody of their kids. The police interview recorded and played in court revealed her confession to hitting Willette with a metal object from a candle holder-like thing and then separating his head from his body.
Dumping The Head In The Trash
She also talked about dumping the head in a neighborhood trash can. One detective referred to her callous attitude regarding a garbage collection vehicle. Michaels, without giving it a second thought, decided it was time for Willette to go “bye-bye.”
The district attorney’s office claimed that “the walls were closing in on Devyn Michaels and the fantasy that she had put together.” Allegedly, she just wanted her ex gone so she could keep the kids.
Sadly, it came as Johnathan Willette was considering returning to her with the kids. By then, maybe she felt cornered because of her secret “marriage of convenience” to her ex’s adult son.
Tried Blaming The Son
The defense counsel for Michaels tried to convince the jury that it wasn’t possible for her to have done the physical act of chopping off the head of a man like Willette. Plus, they tried shifting the blame on the son. But, the jury didn’t buy it.
Reactions In The Comments
Many people mocked the woman because her true crime was so horrific, and she didn’t take the opportunity of the plea deal. One person opined, “Fifteen years offered, not taken and it turns into life without parole. Unbelievable and she’ll now have decades to think about her decision.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- She will never harm another man ever.
- Her attorneys just walked out and left her standing there by herself. They never even gave her a pad on the back or anything comforting. She should’ve just taken the plea.
- she’ll feel like a…fool in 15 years. thank god she didn’t take the deal and the victims family got real justice.
