This week, several major outlets reported that apparently, David Anthony Burke, known as D4VD, finally seems to now be a suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. A new update explains a bit more about the ongoing investigation.
New Updates
The new information arrived via TMZ on YouTube on Wednesday. According to the host who narrated the vlog, the investigation now centers around a bizarre and illogical twist in the death of Celeste Rivas.
The case reportedly involves a middle-of-the-night trip that nobody knew about, and the body that might have been transported over 100 miles. Plus, it involves a suspect who the police think couldn’t have acted alone. Notably, the host said that the LAPD is dealing with a case in which “logic is not a big part.”
A Mysterious Trip
Investigators allegedly now view rapper D4VD as a suspect. Interestingly, the report revealed that cops used tracking data which revealed that David allegedly made a “mysterious trip to a very remote area of Santa Barbara County.”
Several hours away, it happened on a spring night in 2025. Of course, that places it months prior to the discovery of Celeste’s body in the Tesla trunk in Los Angeles.
TMZ’s been very involved in the case of Celeste, so sources and information seem to back up the latest theory. Next, the host said that authorities are working on the theory that the killing of Celeste happened during that time and that her body was initially taken to a secluded place.
The confusing part, however, is how her remains eventually came to be in a car in LA. “That’s the part that doesn’t make sense,” the host said, noting the illogical behavior of retrieving a body from a hidden location only to move it to a populated area.
Did Someone Help?
The odd detail allegedly got the detectives to the point where they are quite certain that David “would have had help.” Actually, it’s not known if the assistance was only for the purpose of moving the body back to Los Angeles, or if it was for other parts of the crime.
Officially, the case sits on hold. The podcaster noted that the medical examiner didn’t divulge the “cause of death” or “toxicology” results yet. Apparently the LAPD and the medical examiner’s office have issues because of slow case outcomes.
Because of delays, that places the cops in the position where they can’t officially treat the case as a homicide or label D4VD as a formal suspect. Nevertheless, the hunt for justice goes on. Obviously, in time, what happened on that journey to another location might be evidence that helps solve the mystery death of teen, Celeste Rivas.
Viewers React
True crime followers complained many times in the past about the lack of movement on the case. In fact, some of them opined that if the LAPD can’t get the job done, they should hand it over to the FBI.
In the comment section, one viewer opined:
OMG at the VERY LEAST this dude should be in prison for being a PEDO!!!!! Holy hell the lack of accountability with these people is egregious! A child found dead in a trunk and not one person is in cuffs. Not the parents for neglect and not the adult man that kept a 14 year old as a live in girlfriend.
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- This case might be more sinister than we thought!
- In my opinion he was a suspect when I heard she was found dead in his car.
- Maybe she was killed and dismembered in that remote area and placed in the bag.. probably why they didn’t find any blood or evidence in the home when they searched.
- I have a feeling when this story comes out it’s going to be very sinister.
