On September 10th, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead at a university event in Utah. Authorities on the scene say that he was killed by a single shot in an apparent targeted attack in front of nearly 3,000 people.

While there’s no doubt that Charlie Kirk was a household name for both fans and critics on both sides of the aisle, he was also a polarizing figure for some of the unconventional and if not controversial things he did.

That’s because he often visited liberal-leaning college campuses where many GOP activists almost never dared to go. He was also a close friend of United States President Donald Trump.

Here are just 5 things you probably didn’t know about Charlie Kirk.

Kirk attended a community college near Chicago before dropping out to devote himself to his activism. What’s more, he applied unsuccessfully for West Point. He also poked fun at his lack of a college degree when engaging in debates with students and academics. Kirk often liked to debate on topics like post-modernism.

Kirk cofounded Turning Point USA, a nonprofit conservative advocacy group. He was just 18 years old at the time. Kirki was the chief executive officer of Turning Point Action and a member of the Council for National Policy. The group mostly grew in popularity thanks to their rallies on school and college campuses.

Kirk Leaves Behind His Wife And Two Kids

He had 5.5 million followers on the platform X and hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a podcast and radio program. Kirk reached on average more than 500,000 listeners each month.

In 2020, Kirk wrote a best-seller, ‘The Maga Doctrine.’ It was in reference to Trump’s Make America Great campaign. On social media, he posted almost several times a day, offering a right-wing perspective on many pressing issues.

In 2021, Kirk married Erika Frantzve, a businesswoman, podcaster, and philanthropist who won the Miss Arizona USA competition back in 2012. She founded Everyday Heroes Like You, a nonprofit supporting under-recognized charities, and hosts the Midweek Rise Up podcast. The couple also had two children. Their daughter was born in 2022 and their son was born in 2024.
