BTS Reunites for Twelfth Anniversary After Military Hiatus

The boys of BTS are back two and a half years after they went on hiatus to enroll in the mandatory military enlistment.

During that time, each of the members launched their own solo projects to varying degrees of success, but having all seven members reunite for the first time in two years has certainly sent a chill running through the ARMY. And by the way, ARMY is the name we BTS fans are known by.

BTS’ Reunion Concert Drew So Many Fans From Around the World

Every year, BTS celebrates their debut anniversary, dubbed festa, in a quite extravagant way, with lots of music, fun activities, games and dancing.

This year, with six of its seven members discharged from their mandatory military enlistment, and Suga’s release right around the corner as well, the spirit was especially high for the global boy band’s fans.

60,000 people gathered to celebrate Festa, which was held over the course of two weeks at the INTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Goyang, South Korea.

Apart from online activities, in-person activities included the setting up of 20 booths, each featuring a different DIY activity.

However, even though I doubt fans expected it, the highlight of the event was the reunion of the band’s seven members onstage. It also added more energy to a week that’s seen the release of four members – RM, V, Jimin and Jung Kook – from enlistment.

Following this, BigHit Music, BTS’ label under Korean entertainment giant Hybe, announced that Suga will soon be discharged as well.

No pressure on the boys, but there are talks that they’re about to send the K-pop industry back into its golden age when they properly reunite.

“Without BTS, a core pillar was missing,” Kim Young-dae, music critic and author of ‘BTS: The Review,’ told the BBC. “There have been concerns recently that K-pop is losing momentum. True or not, BTS could change that perception.”

The last time BTS performed was in 2022 when they threw a massive free concert, titled Yet to Come, in Busan, South Korea.

The concert was held to support the Korean city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo. Even then, hundreds of fans flew in from all over the world to take part in the experience.

So quick question, which of the members’ solo project thrilled you the most?
