Beyond The Gates spoilers indicate that Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) used to sing, and is pretty well known.

It is also indicated that Anita’s singing career ended abruptly, and Anita no longer sings in public. What caused Anita to stop pursuing her passion and somehow losing her desire to sing?

Anita recently sang for the first time in public in years doing karaoke with her daughter Dani Dupree (Karla Mosely) and granddaughter Naomi Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit).

Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) wants Anita to get back to her singing, as he knows that she still loves it, but Anita is still skeptical.

Anita Dupree Quit Her Singing Career Due to A Traumatic Incident

It seems that Anita suffered some trauma during her singing career, and no longer possesses the desire to sing in public. Perhaps a botched performance or a traumatic event happened while she was singing, forcing her to cease singing in public for good.

This event triggered something in her where she just lost all desire to sing for entertainment, or in front of an audience. Anita still sings around the house, as Vernon pointed out, so she is not completely traumatized to the point where she cannot sing at all.

Anita Dupree Had A Horrible Manager Who Went After Her

Another possibility is that Anita had a horrible manager who may have tried to take advantage of her sexually, financially or both.

The incident could have triggered something horrible, and perhaps that is why Anita no longer possesses the desire to sing in public.

This manager made her want to quit for good, so it would be a pretty awful situation if that was the case.

Anita Dupree Still Loves To Sing And Might Make A Comeback

Vernon knows better than anyone that Anita still loves to sing, and is fully supportive of her making a comeback.

Anita still isn’t sure, and is skeptical about it. Vernon set up a meeting with a producer, and Anita was still apprehensive about it.

Perhaps sooner or later, Vernon and the rest of the Duprees can convince Anita to make a comeback.

After all, it’s been years and things have changed, and it may be the right time for Anita to start singing again. Will Anita finally put the past behind her, and go back to doing what she loves?
