The Bold and The Beautiful spoilers and updates reveal Don Diamont has appeared in several soap operas throughout the years, and his latest character is Bill Spencer Jr. Nevertheless, some fans believe it might be better for him to exit the show, not because they dislike him or his performance, but because of his treatment.
Don Has Played Dollar Bill Since 2009
Don’s first soap role was on Days of Our Lives as Carlo Forenza, and the next year, he was on Y&R as Brad Carlton, playing the role until 2009.
After that, he became part of B&B as Bill Spencer Jr-since both soaps are related, he has made notable appearances as both characters on each show over the years.
Fans have enjoyed watching Diamont’s acting throughout the years. However, some fans are now asking him to exit the CBS soap.
In fact, many fans are expressing concerns about his character’s role on the soap recently. Fans think he can do better than what he’s been given to play.
It’s Not That Fans Think He Isn’t Good-Maybe TOO GOOD For The Show
Interestingly, this isn’t due to the belief that he’s not suitable for the show, but rather that they feel the show isn’t worthy of him. A fan took to social media to write an “open post” directed at the actor. They stated, “Don – If you happen to see this – or have someone who checks the media every day for mentions of your name.”
While cautioning Diamont against breaking his contract, the fan recommended that he consider leaving the soap when the renewals are finished. They added, “You’re too talented of an actor for this nonsense. How many years have you been on this show?”
Fans Think He Can Do Much Better Than What He’s Been Given
The fans had some ideas for Diamont’s next career step; they suggested, “Try to get roles in nighttime shows like any CSI or Law & Order. You could play a sarcastic cop, lawyer, or even the villain!”, then, “What about movies – you don’t have to be the lead to stand out. You have such a strong presence on screen and are really impressive-please do yourself a favor and go for it!”
In the comments, other fans shared why they believe Diamont deserves better treatment. One fan commented, “It has been an INSULT to this actor’s talent, quickly putting him in the terrible role of ‘Dollar Bill Spencer’ … which never suited Don.
Brad Bell Hired Don As Soon As He Could
Bradley Bell brought him on board quickly after Y&R left Diamont without a job when Brad Carlton was written out; however, he didn’t develop a strong character to highlight Diamont’s acting skills. Instead, Don was given the role of a billionaire that resembled ‘Rip-Off-Victor-Newman (Eric Braeden)’… which didn’t resonate well. Fans, in particular, have expressed their dissatisfaction with how Bill has been portrayed recently on the soap.
Many have even started calling the character “zombie Bill” in the latest episodes. One fan specifically lamented, “I’m sorry, but the Bill Spencer we saw on TV yesterday, crying and being pushed around by everyone, is not even close to the original Dollar Bill.
Fans Don’t Feel Don Is Being Treated Fairly
The initial poster expressed similar feelings, adding that Don has not been treated fairly. They noted that while series creator Bill Bell provided him with a job, this did not create any obligation towards his son, Brad Bell, who is the executive producer and head writer of the soap.
Other fans chimed in with their thoughts on the matter. Many fans concurred that Don was not receiving fair treatment. Conversely, others felt that different characters should exit the soap, allowing Diamont to have more opportunities to stand out, and some have a particular different male lead in mind.
Fans Continued Debating
Several fans have noted that advising someone to leave their job is rarely sound advice; some of the comments included: “No! I want Bill to remain. Ridge should exit the show.” “Brad Bell treats him poorly; he has been disrespectful to this talented actor .. Don, get some prime time!!” “He will always be Brad Carlton to me, so he could return to Y&R and stir up some trouble for Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman).”
“I agree or give him compelling storylines. Oh wait. They’ll need to hire new writers to achieve that.” “In today’s world, you either stick with your current job or face the unemployment line in the near future.”
