Anna Kepner Cruise Death Texts Reveal Family Focus On Suspect

There’s been a new development in the true crime case of Anna Kepner, the teen who died aboard a Carnival Cruise ship. And, it arrived via the family court case, where so much of the information came from. Read on for more details.

The Text Update

On Monday this week, on FOX 35 Orlando’s YouTube, Garrett Wymer provided an update on the investigation into the death of Anna Kepner. In it, he started out by saying that text messages were sent by her family after the time of her death.

According to the report, it offers a bit more of a look at the family dynamics. Next, he brought on reporter Esther Bower who gave more details. She reminded true crime followers that the documents involve Anna’s step mom, Shauntel Hudson (Kepner,) and her ex-husband, Thomas Hudson who fight a bitter divorce case.

Protecting The Suspect?

Apparently, Shauntel, her new husband, and others in the family seemed rather concerned about protecting the 16-year-old sibling who shared a cabin with Anna. You might recall that her body was found stuffed under a bed, and it seems that he’s the suspect.

Well, Anna died on July 7, but Shauntel only notified her ex the next day. Additionally, they focused on speaking with her son who claimed he didn’t remember anything. Despite calling it an emergency when she contacted Hudson, Shauntel only did that later. In the first text she said, “I need you to call me asap. It’s an emergency,”

Talking About The Other Daughter

Additionally, she shared her concern for the 16-year old by texting, “I just want to make sure until things are certain that he doesn’t get any unnecessary comments towards him.” Furthermore, she seemed happy that FBI were keeping his name and possible involvement under wraps. Plus, she accused reports on social media as mere speculation.

Interestingly, there was a younger boy and daughter aboard the vessel, and suggestion that Hudson should collect them were turned down. Notably, the other kids were apparently not told their step brother was a suspect. However, it seems that the grandparents who were aboard, might have known.

Reactions In The Comments

Of course, there have been a lot of people saying their opinions about how Anna should have never been in the same cabin as her step sibling. And that was mentioned again. But, other people responded about the texts.

One of them wrote, “Wow, Shauntel is a real [Expletive], all she’s concerned about is covering up for him?! Way to go, that’s how to create a new Ted Bundy.”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion:

  • all guilty imo… if you can charge parents for[much less] THEN you can charge the parents for forcing her to room with the lunatic who was obsessed with her.
  • They prolly already know but just waiting for ppl to keep talking so they can get more evidence. Cuz no way the media should have those private texts. Imagine what else the fbi already has.
  • Messed up family.
