For Kody Brown, having four wives meant having one large family under one roof. That is, until he realized that what he wanted wasn’t necessarily what his wives wanted. Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn Brown all wanted to have separate houses to create their dream homes where they can live in privacy with their children.
To make this work, Kody suggested the family shell out money to buy the fourteen-acre property on Coyote Pass. However, instead of bringing them joy, it’s threatening to send them into bankruptcy.
All We Know About Kody Brown’s Coyote Pass Financial Woes
Arizona has not been the best place to build family dynamics for the Brown family. Their relocation to Flagstaff prompted the wives to live apart, each one with their own children, and this apparently allowed them to figure out how much they enjoy being alone.
In 2022, Christine said goodbye to the whole polygamous affair, selling her share of Coyote Pass to Kody and Robyn for $10.
In 2023, it was revealed that Kody was owning $4,858.73 in late property taxes in legal documents that listed him as the owner.
Due to all the drama and financial woes associated with the land, Meri confessed in season 18 of the show that building on the property wasn’t something that was top of mind for her.
Honestly, the property is the furthest thing from my mind. There’s a lot of family stuff that needs to be worked out,” she revealed.
Recently, Kody and Robyn listed their 5-bedroom 4-bathroom property on Zillow for $1.6 million. According to the listing, the house offers “luxurious, spa-like en-suite bathroom, complete with a large dual-head shower and built-in shelving in the walk-in closet.”
Fans were surprised by the move, but an insider claimed it had to be done since the house was getting too expensive to maintain. “Kody and Robyn listed their home because it’s become a huge expense that they no longer can afford, especially now with the family torn apart,” the insider revealed.
As for their future plans with Coyote Pass, the source further added, “They haven’t done any work on Coyote Pass because of how much it will cost to build and, of course, stopped their plans altogether once the wives left.”
