Princess Diana‘s ancestral home, Althorp Estate, where she grew up in, will not be going to either of her royal sons, despite being a prestigious and historic property in Northamptonshire.
Reason Why Prince William and Prince Harry’s Cousin Louis Will Inherit Diana’s Ancestral Home
Before her untimely death in 1997, Diana left her sons many things in the way of money and jewelries, but the one thing she couldn’t leave them was the ancestral home where she grew up in with her siblings.
The over 13,000 acre estate has been the Spencer family’s ancestral home for over 500 years. However, the expansive property will be going to William and Harry’s young cousin Louis, son of Earl Spencer, Diana’s younger brother.
Even though he has three older sisters, the 30-year-old Viscount Althorp, Louis, will inherit the property due to something known as primogeniture in the aristocracy system. This age-old system sees titles skip elder female in the family in honor of a younger male one.
Apart from being the house where Diana spent her earlier years, it also serves as the late Princess’s final resting place.
The present owner of the estate Charles Spencer has taken great pains to honor one of the greatest Spencers in history, his sister Princess Diana, by designing exhibitions that pay tribute to her life and philanthropic efforts.
Being the eldest son of Charles Spencer and his first wife, Victoria Lockwood, Louis will automatically inherit the title, and it comes with the responsibility of managing the impressive estate.
Despite boasting of famous relations, Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, reportedly prefers to keep a low profile. Before enhancing his acting skills by attending the drama school in Chiswick, London, he attended at the University of Edinburgh.
At present, he is represented by Tavistock Wood talent agency, with a source telling the Telegraph that “he’s super private and gets on quietly with his thing.”
The source added: “He’s a very talented actor and, I think, will be a brilliant one. You’d like him. He’s very low-key and genuine, decent and kind and tall.”
OK! Magazine recently reported that he’s already taking part in Trustee meetings as a way of preparing himself for the job of managing the estate one day.
