The Young and the Restless star Doug Davidson is slowly but surely revealing more and more details about why he left the hit CBS soap. Actually, make that why he was probably forced to leave. As many fans do know, Doug played Paul Williams for nearly four decades after the producers of the soap decided not to keep him on contract. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
The Young And The Restless News – Doug Davidson Cut From The Cast Because Of Money?
Just this week, one Twitter user by the name of Rhonda Taylor wrote, “Well now we know why those who don’t respect freedom of speech for anyone right of center are not allowing the longest running cast member of Y&R, as well as one of the best actors ever on daytime or evening TV to appear in the role so many Y&R lifetime fans love. CBS has a right to it’s opinion, and a right to expect certain level of actions from its employees, but not the right to restrict their opinions. @YandR_CBS stop discriminating against @DougDavidsonYR – a lot of your viewers agree and disagree on politics – now you are bringing it into the fray.”
Of course, it didn’t take Doug very long to respond. He wrote back, “Oh, I might add, I don’t think my absence has anything to do with politics. More about $$$”
Y&R News – What’s Next For Doug Davidson?
Needless to say, many of his Twitter followers certainly had a lot to say about the matter. Some commented with, “It’s a shame. Sent Paul off to Portugal to live with Heather and now Christine is divorcing him. (Not sure if you keep up with the show). And Cameron Kirsten in town”.
Chance is split between too many cases and only cop in town!” along with, “Well, it sucks than that they can’t meet your fee especially since you contributed to the success, great success, of this show! Sad that the people in charge today have no idea of what the show was in its heyday.”
Another fan wrote, “You are very missed.. I was thinking today that Cameron Kirsten returning would be better with Paul investigating instead of Chance.. I haven’t given up yet on seeing you back!!”
