While fans await part 2 of season 5 of the mothership series, Yellowstone, Paramount Network cable viewers will get the chance to watch 1883. The Dutton origin series streamed to critical acclaim on Paramount+, but now those without access to the streamer get to watch. In fact, 1883 is set to air on Paramount Network on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Yellowstone prequel 1883 to air on Paramount Network
As Yellowstone fans impatiently await the final episodes of Yellowstone, Paramount Network is getting its viewers a treat. Originally, the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 premiered on Paramount+, where it is still streaming. But not everyone has access to the streamer. Hence the good news is that the prequel to the modern Western series 1883 will air on Paramount Network in its entirety.
News of 1883 coming to Paramount Network first broke early in May, but now Paramount is preparing for its summer viewing. Meanwhile, besides the series itself, fans will get to watch cast interviewers and media releases prior to each episode airing on Sundays through June and July 2023.
The network made the announcement on Instagram, with the caption, “Mark your calendars for the premiere of #1883TV on @paramountnetwork.”
About the Dutton origin story
The award-winning limited series, 1883, will start airing weekly on Paramount Network on Sunday, June 18 at 8 pm ET/PT. Moreover, the special broadcast will also offer extended featurettes at the end of each episode.
While fans enjoyed the other Yellowstone prequel, 1923, 1883 was the most popular spinoff of the two. The prequel first premiered in December 2021 exclusively on the streaming platform Paramount+, winning awards and breaking records as it brought back the Old West.
The screening on the cable channel is unique and for those who do have Paramount+, the limited series will remain there for streaming. However, 1883 will get the full treatment this summer for viewers who prefer cable TV.
Episode 1 reveals the Dutton family heading west through untamed America to the Great Plains in search of a new home. In the series description, 1883 is a “stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land, Montana.”
The limited series stars Grammy Award winners Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as the original Duttons, James and Margaret. They star alongside Academy Award nominee Sam Elliott and Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton. Other cast members include LaMonica Garrett, Isabel May, Audie Rick, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, James Landry Hébert and Eric Nelsen.
