Was Bringing Up Bates Cancelled Because Of How Close They Are To The Duggars?

Duggar Family News reveals that there are some fans of Bringing Up Bates that feel as if the show was canceled due to how close the Bates family are to the Duggars. After the charges of child pornography came out and Josh Duggar went to prison, things got tough for both the Bates and Duggar families. Being part of the IBLP has caused a lot of issues for both families, especially after the Amazon series, Shiny, Happy People aired. Now fans of the Christian fundamentalist families are weighing in on what they think happened.

The Bates And The Duggars

Fans of Bringing Up Bates were first introduced to the Bates family through 19 Kids and Counting. The tight-knot relationship between these two families was very interesting. They both have very conservative Christian views and this made the close friends.

After appearing on a few episodes with the Duggars, the Bates family was given their own show and that is where they gained even more popularity.

The Duggars

The Bates family was seen on Season one of 19 Kids and Counting for the first time. Then they appeared on Season two when they ended up helping the Duggars in an ice storm.

They were seen on trips with the Duggars and it was clear that they had similar beliefs and that was one of the main reasons that they got a long so well.

The Duggar family even made in to Tennessee to see Erin Bates get married. With all of this attention, the Bates family landed their own show in 2015 on the UPtv network.

Why Did They Get Cancelled?

There has been some speculation as to why the Bates family was canceled and one of those reasons is because of how close they are to the Duggar family. Their show ran for ten seasons and they were featured in 185 episodes.

The show was canceled in 2021 right around the same time that the news came out that Josh Duggar was going to prison for possession of child pornography.

The network claimed that they were going in a new direction and the show didn’t fit that mold any longer.

Of course, fans felt as if this cancellation just seemed like the right time for the scandal that was surrounding the Bates’ best friends.

When the show was canceled, the Bates family stated, “As the next year begins, our family will be experiencing a lot of new changes. One of the biggest changes for us is that the network will be moving forward producing more scripted family shows and will not be renewing a contract to film new Bringing Up Bates episodes. We realize God’s timing is perfect, and we are looking forward to what the future holds for our family, as well as the network!”
