Sister WivesIts been a sad season for the cast of Sister Wives and for fans who have watched the TLC series since the start. After close to two decades, season 17 featured the demise of a once happy plural family that consisted of patriarch Kody Brown and his four wives; Christine, Meri, Janelle and Robyn.

Season 17 featured Kody Brown and his long running marital issues with his wives that ultimately ended in his split from three of them. Yes, sadly, Kody Brown is now down to just one wife, Robyn Brown, his most recent wife with who he is legally married to.

Naturally, Sister Wives fans are looking back at where it all began and what went wrong. Producers of the TLC series have also recently shared what made them choose the concept of the show and the Brown Family.

Sister Wives’ Spoilers – The Origins of Sister Wives

Speaking about the show’s origins and its concept, the production company, Puddle Jumper, has shared on its website where the idea of such a show came from.

“The idea grew that there was a much more complicated and compelling story than what was being reported by the national media,” the website shared. Because of this, producers aimed to “create a window into a lifestyle and faith that had never been truly documented before.”

Founder Tim Gibbons is largely responsible for assembling the show after he developed its vision and found Kody Brown through a group of polygamists. Gibbons plan was not “to create a debate on whether polygamy was right or wrong but rather to simply document a polygamist family and let the viewers decide for themselves what they thought of the lifestyle.”

While the Brown Family has fallen on hard times with the division of their large family, the TLC series will continue with the show renewed for season 18. Christine Brown has also confirmed she will be back for the new season, filming from her new home in Utah. As for Meri Brown and Janelle Brown it is unclear of they will return but according to speculation, the pair will most likely sign on for another season.
