Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Open Up About How Archie and Lilibet Inspired Their Social Media Advocacy

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very keen on raising awareness of the dangers of social media use and how parents can help their children navigate it safely.

You know the saying social media is not for the faint-hearted? Well, Harry and Meghan are looking forward to transforming it into a more serene space that doesn’t disastrously clash with a person’s mental wellbeing.

Per a close friend, they’re just two “loving parents” trying to do some good in this world.

Social media has offered us a lot of good things. Gone are the days you have to write a letter, mail it, and wait days for the response to get back to you.

No matter where a loved one is at any side of the world, you can send and receive replies within seconds.

However, this also means that people can hide behind their keyboards typing mean things about you without ever considering how it might affect your mental health.

On Oct. 10, the parents of two hosted their first in-person Archewell Foundation event, titled, “The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age.” This event brought together families affected by the tragic loss of their child in connection to social media use.

“Being a mom is the most important thing in my entire life, outside, of course, being a wife to this one,” Meghan said on stage, gesturing to Harry. “I feel fortunate that our children are quite young, so this isn’t in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened by how it’s continuing to change and this will be in front of us.”

Harry added: “I think for us, with kids growing up in a digital age, the priority is to turn pain into purpose and provide as much support as well as a spotlight and a platform for parents.”

Harry has been outspoken about how the press adversely affected his mental health, even accusing them of pushing him to drug use during his younger years. This might have motivated him to pen the highly controversial memoir “Spare,” as he tries to regain control of the narrative surrounding his story.
