Matthew McConaughey Celebrates Yellowstone Star Cole Hauser’s Birthday

With rumors of Matthew McConaughey joining Yellowstone, fans believe a photo he shared of Cole is ‘foreshadowing.’

Last week, Yellowstone star, Cole Hauser, celebrated his 48th birthday and an old friend shared a remarkable photo to commemorate the day. That old friend was his co-star in Dazed & Confused, namely the great Matthew McConaughey. Fans took this post to reveal something epic, as McConaughey is said to be joining the cast of the hit modern Western series.

Right now, Cole Hauser stars as Rip Wheeler in the Paramount Network series, Yellowstone. However, back in 1993, the actor was just starting out and got an iconic role. In fact, Cole played Benny O’Donnell in the movie, Dazed & Confused. Meanwhile, that same movie launched the career of Hollywood actor, Matthew McConaughey, who played David Wooderson. It turns out the pair have remained good friends over the 30 years since the release of the movie.

In fact, on the occasion of Hauser’s 48th birthday, Matthew shared a remarkable photo of the two of them. The image was taken in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California in 2006 where the two friends were watching USC take on McConaughey’s much-loved Texas Longhorns.

In the post, the Dazed & Confused star wrote, “keep ridin Cole Kenny, happy birthday, Matthew David.”  Readers might glean that Cole Hauser’s middle name is Kenny, while Matthew’s is David. Meanwhile, the two actors look young and gorgeous, drawing many comments from fans. One wrote, “And here are the 2 reasons I watch Dazed and Confused again and again!!!!”

Another fan commented, writing, “I still say you two could be brothers.” However, other fans took the post as hinting at the two men working together again in the future.

Does the image hint at a role in Yellowstone?

One fan commented, writing, “Foreshadowing?” while another wrote, “Rip needs you in Yellowstone!!!”

Currently, the headlines are filled with a Kevin Costner controversy, while recently, rumors have started that McConaughey could possibly replace his fellow Hollywood actor in the role. So far, a representative from Paramount Network made a statement, saying:

Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.

No doubt, McConnaughey’s many fans would love him to join the iconic modern Western series. Let’s hope that these rumors do come true as Matthew would make the best cowboy in the West.
