Jill Duggar’s Husband Derick Dillard Threatened His In-Law Jim Bob With Protective Order

It’s public knowledge that there’s been a huge strain on Jill Duggar‘s relationship with her dad Jim Bob Duggar. Their issues started way before Jill released her memoir “Counting the Cost.” In a recent appearance at the “Vulnerable podcast,” Jill and her husband Derick Dillard revealed that Jim’s constant pestering of his daughter made Derick threaten him with the law.

According to Jill, 32, Derick and Jim had a very good relationship until they fell out. Describing the relationship, Jill said, “It used to be really great.” She went on to share, “I think Derick trusted my dad and my dad trusted him. But then, once we started having some differences and saying things that weren’t—we weren’t falling in line with everything—it got a little rocky there.”

The reality tv alum told host Christy Carlson Romano, “Derick had to really have some hard conversations with my dad, and more recently, to the point where he was standing up to protect me, and say, This is not okay, how you’re treating your daughter.'”

Despite all that’s been done, Jill hopes that there will come a time when her relationship with Jim will be the way it once was. Although she and Derick, 34, did well to distance themselves from the rest of the family, they still see each other.

“That’s kind of where their relationship is right now, but we hope for the future that things can get better. But we’re not rushing things either with my family. We want to have good relationships. We want there to be better trust.”

The couple also shared their reason for distancing themselves, “It’s not that you don’t care, but you have to set some boundaries, do what’s good in the moment.”

Jill also said, “When you are stronger, when you are healthier, when you get to a place where you’re able to do what you need to do, then maybe you can talk about putting yourself back in a situation like that with healthier boundaries occasionally.”

Jill and Derick share three boys, Israel, 8, Samuel, 6, and Frederick, 14 months.
