How Sister Wives Will Continue Following The Brown Family Dismantling

The TLC reality tv show “Sister Wives” started airing thirteen years ago in 2010. The show features the Brown family; Kody Brown with his four wives Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn with their children (a total of 18).

The family documented their lives for the world to see how they live in polygamy. Around the time the show aired, Kody’s third wife Christine shared, “We needed to be heard, polygamous people. We wanted people to know that we’re just regular people who are just doing our best to raise kids and have a big, great, awesome, happy family.”

Throughout the beginning of the show which has successfully run for 17 seasons, it has always felt like the show would end anytime soon but it just kept running and giving viewers what to talk about daily. From one scandal to another, and from one drama to another.

Sister Wives Spoilers – Kept Running Despite Investigations

The Discovery Networks and TLC, Howard Lee once revealed to “Variety” that his first encounter with the Browns was unlike he has ever seen before. Lee considered the Brown family different from the families he’s ever come across.

Lee said, “We knew we had something special,” “It was completely different from anything that we all consider what defines family.” he went on to say that viewers of the show also share the same thought as he and that’s why they’re glued to their screens waiting for the Browns’ next drama.

“It’s endlessly watchable to see how one man and his four wives navigate each of their relationships. It was just so incredibly unusual to see four different relationships happening at once under one roof separately.”

The one time it felt like the show would come to an abrupt end was after the season two— that was when the Browns were been investigated by Utah County attorney for being polygamous. That action caused the Browns to leave Utah and move to Los Angeles.

Recalling what it would have happened if the patriarch Kody was charged, showrunner Chris Poole told “Variety,” “We figured even if — it was actually a real possibility — if the state of Utah came down hard on the family and Kody was arrested, we’d cover that.”

Poole went on to add, “If they had been charged, they wouldn’t be able to leave. They’d be fugitives if they left, but they had not been charged, so they were free to move.”

“They decided that was the best course of action because there really was a real risk of Kody being arrested and separated from his family.”

Sister Wives Spoilers – The Show Must Go On

Following the recent events on how three of Kody’s wives have left him, the question has always been, will the show go on? Will it still be called ” Sister Wives” despite having only one wife left? Will there be tension amongst them if they chose to continue the show?

Since the wives are no longer living under one roof, filming their lives would be a little bit more stressful than before, it’ll also focus more on the wives co-parenting their children with Kody.

Although none of the wives are running away from the show, and as previously reported, season 18 is in the works, Christine once shared her hope for the adults to put up a united front while filming.

“The other day, I introduced Janelle as my sister wife. I still use those words,” says Christine. “I guess we’ll have to see. I’ve been overwhelmed that it’s been going for 10 years.”

“I’m going to stick with it! I think what people might think is still more interesting is how does the family actually work after somebody leaves? How do we manage the divorce with still having sister wives? So many people get divorced and work on their relationships with their exes and learn how to take care of kids together.”

The show is also open to spinoffs from the divorced wives, showrunner Poole said, “Of course I would love to [do spinoffs] and I think people would love to see what happens to each one of them.”

He added, “But fortunately, we’re in a place right now where we’re covering that on ‘Sister Wives,’ Nobody’s disappearing from the show.”
